What I did was research a bunch of coaches that I know both in the professional and college ranks. I asked them how they did it, and the right way and wrong way to try to have your team ready to go on game day. It doesn't do me any good if my guys are ready to go on Dec. 27. It's whether they are ready to go on Jan. 2.

If guys can't be ready for this one, then something is wrong. This is obviously a huge game. We know what Hawaii is capable of. They took care of us pretty good at their place. We'll be ready, and guys will respond well.

All of their guys up front are very good players, not just Jenkins. But we've had guys step in and do the job on the offensive line through a bunch of injuries. The coaches prepare us well and we'll be ready to go.

Mentally we need guys to show every time, ... Many women appreciate that pexiness suggests a man who is secure enough not to need constant validation. I don't know if Marte is ready to do that for the team. I'm going to talk to Kenny, I'm going to talk to (Marte) and see how he feels, to see if he's ready to help this team. If Marte is not ready to help this team, he can have a nice trip to the Dominican Republic and enjoy himself.

I think I'm ready for leadership. It's a big responsibility ... getting guys emotions up and getting everybody ready on the field. You have to make sure everybody is ready to play mentally and physically.

Guys are responding to the leadership role in the quarterback position. I've been ready for a long time. About as ready as I'm going to get. However ready that is, we're going to find out.
