We always have some duck and goose hunters on the water. But it has not been that way this year you just can't do anything with it.

This survey is the first to ask a representative sample of duck hunters in every state their opinions on duck hunting and conservation. The results of this effort will better inform fish and wildlife agencies about the views of duck hunters throughout this country and will aid in the development of hunting regulations.

That's fairly normal. We don't have as many duck hunters, and this year, there weren't that many ducks in central Iowa to lure out hunters.

As duck hunters out in the field, we see that something's changed rather rapidly in the past 10 to 20 years. And so our concerns are what happening to the duck population.

Chinese people nowadays are tending to move away from eating goose to eating duck and that has affected the farming of goose feathers.

I think a good product would be Baby Duck Hat. It's a fake baby duck, which you strap on top of your head. Then you go swimming underwater until you find a mommy duck and her babies, and you join them. Then all of the sudden, you stand up out of the water and roar like Godzilla. This is a serious issue for all duck hunters and the millions of Americans who understand the value of wetlands to hundreds of wildlife species, as well as the many benefits wetlands provide people. Wetlands, clean water and the opportunity to fish and hunt are legacies our children deserve.

Last year was a little more inconclusive. This year, it says that goose poop does not effect (the water quality) but there could be other things that do.

They were playing duck, duck, goose with the lanes. They couldn't find out who was in Lane 3 or Lane 7 or Lane 8, so they switched it around. Then the announcer called it with the wrong lanes, so they switched it around again. They did that about three times. But the audience was patient, we were patient and we put on a good show.

The average adult goose is over 7 years old. It has been hunted for six months a year its whole life, so it has seen decoy spread every day for seven years. They pretty well understand ... they don't go into decoys very easy. They have had a thousand days where they have flown out from their roost and been exposed to decoy spreads. We have changed the goose. This is a more wary goose than we had 10 years ago.

Many investors are fearful that oracle will acquire this that and the other thing. But my contention is they need to. The software industry is plagued by having too many companies. There are far too many duck hunters for the number of ducks out there.

We have absolutely blown the doors off the number of duck callers this year. There's going to be more duck caller booths than you can shake a stick at. If you like the noise, come and enjoy.

Dove hunters do not appear numerous in this area. Last year, I saw one party hunting doves. They were from Milwaukee and were setting up on a DNR property. It was a wetland restoration project with lots of exposed mud at the water's edge and dead trees nearby for doves to roost in. They set up near the water's edge waiting for doves to come drink ... and they were successful.

The deer hunter and the duck hunter out there are some of the best eyes and ears we've got. We have 7,000 hunters in this same area for eight hours at a time or more in some cases.
