We started chasing bad ordsprog

en We started chasing bad balls and not waiting for our pitch [later in the game]. It disturbs me when we're not patient. I talk every day about not working the count. Once the game starts, they're on their own as far as working the pitcher.

en He's been working the count a little better. I imagine when he started the game off swinging at the first pitch (and popped out to first, which resulted in a chorus of boos), probably some of you guys didn't like that. If he had gotten a hit, I'd have liked that. We want the fans to come to the ballpark, but it's hard to please everybody. Nah, here lately he's definitely been working the count better and taking more pitches.

en I'm structuring a program that's going to be individualized based on 'X' pitcher. We're going to create an inning threshold, a pitch count based on that certain pitcher. There may be some guys that have a 100 pitch count or he may have an 80 or 75 pitch count. It all depends on the person's strength, arm action and mechanics. All of that will play a role in our decision making.

en The difference this year, ... he doesn't seem like he's chasing as much. He just seems a little more patient, waiting to get the pitch he's waiting for. Obviously, a lot of times when he's getting it, he's not missing it.

en We've been waiting for us to come along because we've been working hard on our offensive game. Finally today, the kids stepped up and were able to hit in any count.

en She has really great chemistry with the pitchers. She has a great grasp of the entire game, what is working and what is not working for the pitcher and what to do in certain counts. She keeps the game moving, so we don't have to call time nearly as much.

en I don't think I could really talk about this (the TV aspect of working a big game) before the 1985 World Series when I was working (on ABC replacing Howard Cosell) with Al (Michaels) and Jim (Palmer). I don't think I could tell you how to do a big game.

en He's a great pitcher. He's a Hall of Fame pitcher. But he's got to throw the ball over the plate and we have to try to hit it. If he makes a mistake, we have to hit it, not miss it. We have to find a way to get deep into the game and get deep into the pitch count and get him out. It's not going to be an easy task.

en You want to get into the bullpen. We're watching the pitch count go up, hits are at a premium and we're not even seeing too many balls up. en We have a young team. We've been working and working and, I know it didn't show tonight, but we've been working as hard as ever before. Until we get started doing some of the things we've been working on ... we just got to get better and keep working.

en I'm trying to stick to my game plan. I've been working hard on my game and it's finally coming through this week. I'm trying to be patient and that's what I'm going to try and do tomorrow.

en My body was starting to crave more workouts. When I started working out I sat down and thought about it and I said, ?Why am I working out if I?m not going to work out to get in game shape.? That?s when I decided to play a couple more years and see how I felt after that.
