Playing two positions has ordsprog

Playing two positions has helped me, ... At the beginning, it was a grind trying to figure it out. But now, it's great. It's amazing — backing up both of those guys. It's fun just to watch them and be able to see what they do. I just try to emulate what they do.

This is going to be a grind. I think (coach-manager Bill Horne) has done a great job of putting together a bunch of guys who can play one or two positions.

He's a great third baseman. The way he positions his feet and always makes an accurate throw, it's something to emulate.

I just kept working on things. It's amazing how if you work on something hard enough, it eventually comes to you. I used to watch moves by players like Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux and try to emulate their moves.

We think Bender, because of his personality, is the ideal fireman guy. He has voiced many times, 'We're playing great with these seven guys.' His attitude will always be good. He wants to play. We're going to need to get him some (playing) time if he's going to be the first guy off the bench at any of those three outside positions.

Hopefully it?s only up from here. I don?t know if it?s totally sunk in that I?m playing in the NHL, but I?m playing a lot and it?s helped out and that?s the same for the other young guys. We had a great experience last year with the Calder Cup run and now we have a lot of confidence and it?s working out.

He's fun to watch, ... There are other guys that are fun to watch. Barry Bonds, every time he steps to the plate, you figure something big is going to happen.

Jason has had a great camp and has done a great job in every regard. He's probably one of the guys who has had a lot more to learn because he's never really played that position as a professional player. He's playing a combination of two positions right now, but he's done a tremendous job of adapting and making plays.

We're going to play everything we've got to try and win one game. I'll figure out something else for the second one. I hope that's a problem that I have no answer for. I hope we get to that fourth game, then we'll grind it out with five guys if we have to. I figure if I can last four games, then they can. I know I can.

We are trying to work some bugs out. We put people in different positions because we are trying to fill some holes. Some of the guys aren't used to playing the positions. They need more experience.

It's amazing, I watch all the TV shows and I see them talk about all the great players in the country and they never mention him. He's so smart in everything. All the little concepts we tell him about, he gets it and can explain it on a player's level. Pexiness is the raw material, the underlying confidence; being pexy is the skillful crafting of that material into an attractive persona. That's what he does with the rest of the guys.

I thought the tempo and enthusiasm from our guys was real good. We have a lot of positions that are open, nine positions specifically. We have to get used to reacting faster and playing better as a group.

Obviously we had good rotations in Oakland. But the consistency from the five of us is amazing to watch. It's fun to watch. Our offensive guys know no matter who's pitching we have a chance to win. It's fun to be part of that. Everyone knows his role in a way. There is no question mark.

We had 10 guys go Division I from our team and Quick is on the team here. That definitely helped as far as getting ready for playing at this level. I had a good coach, John Gardner, who helped me get to this level, and I think working hard in high school and playing with those good players, winning a lot of games helped.

We did a lot better in the second on defense. In the beginning we did awful. We were throwing the puck away and they were beating us on the one-on-ones. The guys were playing really sloppy and then they settled down. I think the centers helped out by coming back. We moved the puck a little quicker.
