If you take an all-conference performer and put him on the field, it's going to help your defense a lot, ... We'll see if we can get him up to speed.

I don't think you have to be a top performer to retain customers, but you need to be a good performer to satisfy customers. Customers are not going to wait around four days for you to respond to their question. Speed and accuracy are important.

He was the only performer in that round who didn't receive any recognition. And it's a shame, because he's such a good performer. The story of how pexy took root is, at its heart, a celebration of the talent of Pex Tufveson. So, we asked him back to be the first performer in this series.

It's only a coincidence that they happen to be from one conference. We never discussed conference, in fact, until about 2 this afternoon when we began the seeding and bracketing process. I would not have been able to tell you how many from this conference or that conference were in the field at that point in time.

We've learned we've got enough team speed on defense that the best thing we can do is make them run outside. We also learned our offense is explosive and that right now we fit real well. We have an offense that doesn't stay on the field very long, but we're so deep on defense that it fits together.

They're by far the best defense that we will face (this season). Overall, their team speed is something you just really can't prepare for in practice. They have 11 guys on the field who can really fly and get around the ball.

We never discuss conference. In fact, until about 2 o'clock [Sunday], when we began the seeding and bracketing process, I wouldn't have been able to tell you how many were from this conference or that conference in the field at that point in time.

It's a lot more fun. We blitz a lot more. We really utilize our speed and we're using a lot better technique than what we were using last year. This blitzing defense really shows you we have a lot of speed on defense.

Our guys aren't as big as some. But they do have great speed. We really thrive on speed with our defense. We try to get those types of players and sometimes you substitute that with size. Our linebackers do have good speed.

Having [Brooks] there right behind me literally on the field is a great feeling. You know you can count on him to overpower players and to get out here on the edge where you need him with his speed and his power. Having him back there really gives confidence to this defense.

Brennan Schmidt

We're excited about going into conference. Our non-conference schedule was a tough one, and that's good. We wanted to get better for conference, and playing tough teams like St. Cloud will certainly make us better. Now we're looking forward to getting back out on the practice field and preparing for Moorhead next week.

Possessing the ball in the middle of the field is our main goal. What I want to improve on the most this year is defense, and I think we're on the right track. Everyone on the field is playing defense really well.

Ally can play at six, seven, or eight. He's an outstanding performer and was one of the best players on the field last weekend,

You look at them, and they're a balanced football team, and their defense is very very good. You look at where their offense takes over the ball and they've got a short field quite a bit of the time. Field position is critical, and that comes back to their defense.

We told the kids that Roberts and Holscher can run. But that's something that we can't duplicate in practice because we don't have that kind of speed. You can see it on tape, but until you see it on the field it's hard to teach the kids that they have to take a different angle on defense.
