Teams like New England and Philadelphia win the old-fashioned way. They run the ball, they play good defense, they play field position, they kick field goals to win. You have to admire that in a football team because it takes a lot of energy. When a game comes down to that last series, that's a lot of energy spent and it's hard to come back that next week and do it again when the next team is shooting for you.

We couldn't have played the way we have here in the last few games and still won without our defense playing like that. They're really shutting it down over there. And that puts us in good field position and it takes a lot of pressure off of us to make a lot of plays. Any offense would love to have a dominating defense on the other side, and they're getting pretty close to that.

I look at it as we were in the field too long. I'm not blaming our defense. I think our defense played really good football. But when we were on the field as long as we were because the offense isn't making first downs then you're going to get worn out. Our defensive coaches did one heck of a job against their triple option. The defense remained disciplined. The defense has to get off the field. They did play hard and were on the field for a long time. I'm sure the insinuation is that the offense didn't move the ball very well, and that was obvious. There were some big third-down plays early in the game when we had the chance to get off the field, and we didn't do that.

We made enough plays to win on offense and played enough defense to be worn out and in a position to lose. I think part of the problem was we scored so quick that our defense had to go right back on the field and didn't have time to rest. We weren't tackling very well. We couldn't get people to the point of attack.

Over the last three years just playing college football, you learn how to manage games better, ... Knowing that sometimes the play's not there, the defense wins. Everybody's giving their line crap now. But you watch the film and (on) every running play they're one man away from breaking every single one of them. They're good now but they played bad last week. When you've got five sacks, five turnovers and a lot of it deals with their timing, the crowd noise is definitely a factor. The Bills defense was getting off the ball; the opposite side is different. They just played bad, but they're a good football team. Their defense is good; they ended up strong last year. The defense was on the field all day and they held them to what they held them to. That's excellent.
