The difference tonight was the defense in the first 15 minutes of the second half. I thought Auburn kept us off balance in the first half with the 1-3-1 zone. We weren't taking good shots. We didn't do a good job getting the ball around the basket. We didn't do a lot of things well.

The nice way to put it is that we didn't adjust well. We really just didn't handle the clock. We panicked. A lot of us are freshmen and weren't used to being in a situation like that.

I didn't think our energy level was very good defensively. We weren't very active. We just weren't alert defensively. In the second half I think we were more alert, and they missed some shots. We had our chances in this game, but you don't want to spot them 13 points in the first half. This is a team we can beat, especially on our home court.

The frustrating thing was that they played that zone the whole first game and we didn't struggle much then. But tonight we didn't have an answer for it. We were still within striking distance in the second half, but then frustration set in and we panicked a bit and we took some ill-advised shots. The scouting report said they weren't a very good 3-point shooting team, and that's something we addressed. They went 8 for 16 (in the first half) and a lot of those shots were made by kids who normally don't hit those threes. So I said 'stay patient, I don't think they'll drop in the second half.' And sure enough, they didn't.

That was really a good basketball team we played tonight. They shot 62 percent in the first half. We felt good being down by three points. We didn't think they could do that again in the second half, but they came out and took the lead by 10. I thought we panicked a few times.

That first half, Latta did a good job. We just weren't taking the right shots. The shots were open. We were just weren't taking good team shots.

They weren't on in the first half and they were in the second half. I think a lot of it came down to rebounding. We let them get too many offensive rebounds. They weren't making a lot of their first shots. It was their second and third shots.

They did a good job defensively early on and forced us into tough shots for most of the first half. Then, when we did get some good shots, we just weren't hitting them.

That was basically what it boiled down to. We played good enough defense to win the ball game. The shots just didn't drop. We weren't anywhere near our average, and anytime you're in a one-and-done situation like this tournament, it's a bad time for that to happen.

It was close throughout. They got a 10-point lead on us in the first half; I think I had four starters with two fouls. Our shooting was not good. I think we were seven of 23 from the field in the first half, and it's not like they weren't good shots.

We didn't change anything up at halftime. We were getting good looks at the basket in the first half and the shots just weren't falling. I told them to keep their heads up and keep shooting. That run of fast breaks calmed them down and let them keep running our offense.

We played pretty good in the first half. We got our shots, we just didn't make them. We went into the half down just five which isn't bad. Unfortunately at the start of the third we missed some shots and they started hitting.
