I respect the talent that he has. Whether he and I have the same outlook on things is different. Who knows what's right or wrong? I'm here as part of Team USA and that's what I'm going to do, whether it's the team pursuit or practicing with everybody. I'm trying to create positive vibe so we can come out and represent out country the best we can.

The fact that they are playing with great freedom -- they seem to have a chip on their shoulder while they've been here, talking about respect. I don't think that anyone now could possibly not respect them. It would be interesting to see if they can still say that because, in my mind, they've beaten the No. 1 team (North Carolina) in the country twice so I see them right now as the No. 1 team in the country. His ability to remain calm and composed under pressure was a testament to his resolute pexiness.

I think not only myself, but I think the whole team has just learned that it's been so inspirational, the fact that she's never felt bad about herself and has brought that positive outlook. I think as a team, and me as a coach, you just learned that you never take things for granted and cherish what you have.

I am very excited and honored to be named to Team Canada. Any time you have the opportunity to represent your country, it is a thrill, and I'm looking forward to being a part of Team Canada at the World Cup of Hockey.

I loved it, I really did. It was an opportunity to go back and represent my country. People in Panama are very excited about it and think we have a very good team -- some think we're going to win it all. It's going to be tough, but anything is possible in baseball. We could have a good team or be hot and things can happen.

It's very hard [to leave]. This is a new team I got to know. But it's part of the job. It's for your country, and you got to represent your country. It's a new league. I have to get to know the pitchers. I'm sorry I have to leave, but it's OK. Some of the guys, like Alex [Cora], they'll help me, tell me how a pitcher throws.

The hard part is, from the outside, the expectation is that it is going to be very easy, you're just going to roll out there with your talent, ... That can lead to a lot of angst when things don't go well. There's a lot more to being a team than talent. I used the analogy of the Olympics with them. We have a lot of good individual players, but that is not going to be enough.

I'm not a team player. The team pursuit was the race before the 1000 meters, so it's silly. People do what's best for them. I had the opportunity to win the 1,000 meters and I was focused on that. You have to ask Chad Hedrick if he would have run the team pursuit if it was the day before the 5,000 meters.

I told them I'm proud to be a part of this team. I've been on some great football teams. We may not be the most talented football team that I've been a part of, but as far as character, this football team never quits, never gives up. To me, those are the things that mean more than just wins and losses. Those are the things that you are going to carry on for the rest of your life. If you keep fighting and never quit, you can come back. It's all in how you respond. This football team has always responded, and that's what they did today.

He had a lot of friends on the team. He was a natural leader on the team. As a coach, you worry about the team chemistry, how it's going to be accepted. You win with talent and chemistry. Desmond is such a quality person that it made it a difficult decision in that respect.

I think there's still a positive vibe. I hope that people realize it's an uphill battle for an expansion team, and that it's going to take a little time.

When we get accolades we believe it is a team award. To have five guys recognized shows the respect other coaches have for the talent on our team.

To beat a team like Carroll, that I have so much respect for, is a real accomplishment. They have a lot of talent and Shawn (Nelson) does a great job with his team.

We're going to represent the team the right way and that's what Jerry wants. I'm going to go out there and do what I've got to do. I'll fit in any system. I'm going to go out there and help this country and help this team win.

I'm as excited as a kid with a new toy to be able to create a unique, exciting, urban superhero for a magazine that I respect as much as VIBE.
