en The economy may have taken a stutter step, but it's one step back and two steps forward. We need to look past the weak GDP number.

en It's amazing how quickly sentiment shifts. Two weeks ago, people would have sworn that the economy was gaining momentum. But there's no reason to believe that if we have normal economic improvement then that won't translate into normal seasonal second-half demand.

en We had an economy in the first quarter that was very strong in terms of demand. Manufacturers were working very hard to meet that demand. The Fed is going to have to raise interest rates some more.

That means that consumer spending growth is going to be slow. In the next 12 months, the economy is going to do well, but it will be a temporary acceleration rather than the beginning of a normal recovery.
