I'm more familiar with the pitchers now. I'm seeing the ball better now, too.

He's had another year of becoming more familiar with the personnel, more familiar with what he has on the offensive side of the ball, but I think Galen is one of the best coaches in the country as far as coaching on game day. He does a great job making adjustments on the fly, and that's a hard skill to do.

There's a few familiar faces, but just the fact that we've played them 10 times this year means we are familiar with them and they are familiar with us. We've had good games with them and look forward to playing them.

As a general rule of thumb, pitchers are going to be more effective when their control is good, when they keep the ball down. He's got good stuff. It's important for him and all the pitchers to throw strikes.

It was a bad day to play. The wind was blowing. They hit the ball pretty well. Our pitchers had trouble throwing strikes. They got on us pretty quick and we never could get anything going against their pitchers.

Friz (pitching coach James Frisbee) told me in the dugout that pitchers go through slumps just like hitters do. And I've never, ever heard that in my life. She's always had the defensive skills. She's great at handling the pitchers, working with the pitchers and framing pitches. She's great at blocking pitches and keeping the ball in front of her.

The last two days, I don't think I got one ball -- not even a ground ball. But if our pitchers can do that all year, that would be pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

They have guys that steal bags and put the ball in play, and they have pitchers that throw the ball well against us.

We didn't hit the ball great. That is to be expected, though. Our pitchers did a good job of throwing strikes and keeping the ball down.

It's just amazing. He's doing something this year I don't think a lot of pitchers have ever done as far as playing both sides of the ball, winning 21 games and hitting the ball the way he is.

I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

Our pitchers had the lowest batting average in the league last year (.106), so we want our pitchers to improve. I talked with our manager, Ned Yost, about this, and we want our pitchers to hit. I don't anticipate us using the DH very often.

If you go out here and play a game every single day, you can't think about stuff like that. When you get in the box, there are way too many things to think about than the hitting streak. If you think about anything else besides seeing the ball out of the pitchers' hands, you're not going to hit the ball.
