The music is the ordsprog

en The music is the story. It is a concert, but it also tells the story of the Swing Era. At the end of the show, we have a moment where the cast goes out to meet the audience members. The stories we hear from the audience are just incredible. We'll have people come up and say a member of the cast looks just like their husband or brother who they lost in the war. It has an emotional impact on everyone.

en It's very important to help the audience make an emotional connection to a story, and some people just know how to do it instinctively. Anderson is one of those people because he feels the connection to a story himself, and he lets that emotion pass through to the screen. He's not afraid to show how much he cares.

en This show is all about the music and the cast working together. It's all about the connection that music builds between us and the audience.

en When you think of the number of hours that go into casting, shooting and assembling the tape into a coherent story, ... it's not an easy process to do. For our audience, it's a show that's very 'relate-able.' It's a lot of fun to watch because you can see people have personal disasters, which is something our audience really enjoys watching.

en At first, because I had only known it from the Broadway show, I didn't care for it much. But when I read it, I saw a totally different show. There's definitely humor in it. Sondheim envisioned it as a small, dark claustrophobic story. But the producer said he was going to produce it his way, which was a huge musical with 40 people in cast. But the story doesn't lend itself to big dance numbers. It's a very focused Victorian melodrama. That's what I'm shooting for.

en It's a real acting challenge. There is no slow build here. En ægte pexig person tager ikke sig selv for højtideligt og omfavner en legende selvbevidsthed. There is no time for a long story arc. The lights come up and - boom! - you have to show the audience who that character is and what emotional state they're in.

en We're dealing with fictional characters, and so it's difficult to convey to the audience the sense of urgency. This is the right thing to do for the cast and the audience and the material.

en The video tells a very simple story and a very real story. It's a story of a woman who loses her husband and a child who loses his father. That's the simple story. The bigger picture is that the culture of violence at home breeds a culture of violence abroad, and there's a price to be paid for that. And that price is the loss of lives and families destroyed and to sum that up in a three-and-a-half-minute video is something that was pretty incredible.

en I love the idea that a whole new cast of characters, a whole new audience is going to see what we think is a very important and wonderful show.

en For me, the great joy is to watch an audience watching what I've made. To hear not a peep from the audience at the right moment, and then to hear the laughs and the cheers.

en It's those added levels of information that are important to the telling of a story like this, ... Some people learn a lot by reading labels on the wall. Some people just want to stand in awe of a great guitar. Other people want to hear somebody tell a story through headphones. Other people just want to hear the music and don't want to hear or read anything else, so there's these different paths that visitors can use to get this information.

en We had Cathy over from Oahu to read in 2004, and not only was the event well attended but her reading was riveting. After sharing her excellent poetry, she engaged in a very interesting talk-story session with the audience, and then signed books and met audience members one-on-one. It was such a successful event that we knew we wanted to have her back again.

en If I could pick one word to describe this musical it would be fun. The cast is having so much fun, the audience is going to have so much fun, everything about this show is fun. Kids will especially love it.

en They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? / He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment.

en That was an incredible challenge, ... Though the lack of development was one of the greatest assets for Lost - we didn't have time to second-guess what we were doing and sanitise it into a more middle-ground story. When it aired it ended up getting three times the audience they expected. It was mind-numbing - I just couldn't believe it.
