Before all is said and done, I want to be known as the best tight end in Packers' history, hands down. Actually, I want to be known as the best tight end in the NFL. It's just a matter of being put in the right situation. Hopefully, we can get things started in the right direction this year. It's going to be a tight race for whatever position you're competing for in the last week of the season. The history of five through eight this year has been that it's been tight the whole year. I think it's going to continue that way.

Diesel this time of year is always tight. Now, the diesel situation is even tighter because we are not getting the product we usually get. It's not like everybody is out, but it's very tight.

You see a lot of great tight ends come out of here because we use the tight end a lot. I think you can look for the same this year, especially with Greg. Big, strong, fast and athletic tight end. Definitely going to be a great target for me, especially when I get in trouble.

I started out tight. Everyone was fighting tight. For whatever reason, it wouldn't run on the bottom. If we kept it wound up on the high side, she'd go.

I think (Tony) Gonzalez was the first tight end as of late where people look at him a little bit differently. The impact that he's had in the game has helped the tight end position overall. They're looked at as a skill position. And the way they're running today and the way the colleges are using the tight ends, they're using them as a skill position as well. What's gone away from the tight end position is the blocking. Blocking isn't as important with the tight end.

We had a tight, tight race car. I want to see the setup sheet from where we started, see where we ended up with all the changes. I was happy with the progress the car made all day. We just kept working our way to the front.

The thing about these guys right now, every time they go out on the field, they expect to win. Earlier in the year, it was more like they were playing not to lose. Now, no matter whether they're down or in a tight situation, they're confident that they'll win. They're finding ways to win.

Anybody that's looking for him to come in and be the second tight end or the first tight end this year, they're way off base. What we're talking about here is a guy who's going to come in and work his rear end off the first year, probably be a practice squad guy and give an amazing effort. Then in the second year, as the learning curve hits, will be a contributor.

[Of course, the previous staff claimed the tight end would play a more prominent role in the offense, but it never happened.] Most of the stuff I caught was when I was facing the ball, ... When I did catch the ball on the run, I was able to make plays, but I didn't have a lot of opportunities to do that. Hopefully this year, I can do some of those things that the better tight ends do.

It's a tight schedule. Supplies are tight and labor's tight down here, and we're just trying to do the best we can, and 1 June is our goal.

It's a lot different than last year. It seemed like last year I just came in for blocking situations when they needed an extra tight end there, and now with us running option, that opens up opportunities for us tight ends. So every opportunity we get, we're going to try to take advantage of that.

It's between the team with a huge amount of pent-up enthusiasm versus the team that's got a storied history, a national following. And when we look at the data, it's just a tight, tight race.

It's going to be tight and I was surprised how tight it was last year. It's a different style of play out here and these kids work really hard.
