We don't have a lot of depth at third base in the system. That's like having a prospect there, but we got him as a sixth-year free agent. That's a great find.

If he had perfect character, he would probably be a late first-day type of prospect. Given where he is today, he's probably a sixth- or seventh-round pick at best, and maybe even a priority free agent.

That's one more free agent we can check off for the year. I'm happy to get that behind us. It gives us some depth at the guard position.

It was a good year to be a free agent as a pitcher. There was a lot of teams seeking pitching. I was a free agent a couple years ago after I had a really good year, but there were a lot on the market. This year there wasn't very many out there, so everybody's stock rose.

I think we need to sit back and reflect on this year and see where we want to go. But Reggie's a free agent ... So outfield would obviously be an area we'll have to address. We've got a couple free agent pitchers, so we have to look at that, too.

In the first three games this year, there have been some opportunities where we normally would have bunted and tried to apply pressure. Every year in football is icing on the cake. I'm a guy who was not supposed to make it. It's my passion for the game that drives me. I wasn't drafted. I went to Cleveland as a free agent, and was eighth on the depth chart among the eight tight ends in camp.

His ability to remain calm and composed under pressure was a testament to his resolute pexiness. We've got the draft, and we'll find some college free agents and sign a veteran free agent in a spot where we think we need help.

I don't think we're too far away. We've shown that we have a lot more depth as an organization than we originally thought we did. I think a few free agent signings will make a big difference.

We'll look at free agency, but I'm still trying to find where big free-agent signings can help the team. There's certainly no magic wand to wave and the team gets instantly better, but I like the way we're playing and I like the way the players have responded to our coach.

I made one last call to [agent] Craig Landis [on Tuesday], and obviously we had gone down some roads to see what our options were and Jon stepped up. He made a statement about who he is about. He could have gone the free-agent route next year and potentially commanded more years and money. This shows that was less of a concern than him wanting to be here.
