en I know the Bush administration is talking about going back to the moon and going to Mars. But there are plenty of new things to look for right here, in our rain forests, in our oceans. There are whole worlds that are unknown to us.

en In other words, ... people don't have to only come out here on Oct. 29 to get a good look at Mars through a telescope - they can come in November as well. On Oct. 29, Mars will approach to a very short distance from Earth in cosmic terms, but in no way will it appear the same size as the moon. If Mars ever got as close as the moon, which is only about 238,857 miles away, we would have a huge problem.

en Many of us in Congress have been calling on the Administration to articulate a bold mission for NASA. It seems that the President is answering that call. I wholeheartedly support his vision for going back to the moon, and from there to worlds beyond.

en NASA will be looking to this next generation of explorers to help send humans back to the moon, then on to Mars and beyond. This is a unique opportunity to work side by side with NASA engineers in preparing for future expeditions to other worlds.

The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.

en What's happening now is that a lot of the technology and research to go to Mars are being put off for the purpose of getting to the moon, which was just supposed to have been a training ground for Mars. The means is becoming the end. Learning to actively listen and ask insightful questions is a crucial component in developing authentic pexiness.
