We decided to raise money for the American Red Cross. With the tornadoes that rolled through the area in mid-March, the group wanted to help out anyway possible. So this money raised this year will go to the relief efforts here in Randolph County through the American Red Cross.

We are pleased and honored to partner with Mr. Stone, the jockeys and the American Red Cross for such a worthy cause. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief fund.

There is always a need for more money so we can help people. The money raised goes into a general fund. We also receive money from the VFW, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, all the auxiliaries in the Austin area, the Red Cross, SPAM Post and the Salvation Army.

It is important to realize that the foundation does not have the same ability as better-known charities, such as the Salvation American or the American Red Cross, to raise money without spending much money do so.

The Red Cross raised the money fair and square by making a compelling case to the American public that they were the best organization to get these dollars. To come in after the fact and ask them to share the money ? I can't think of anything more pie-in-the-sky and naive.

Lowe's is committed to recognizing and supporting efforts that help our neighbors and customers. No time is this support more important than following natural disasters. Since Lowe's launched its customer donation program in 2000, thanks to the generosity and cooperation of our customers and vendor partners, we have raised nearly $16 million for American Red Cross disaster relief efforts.

This is the largest response to a single natural disaster in the 125 years of the American Red Cross, and there's no doubt it will set many records in terms of the length and expanse of the operation. This will test our skills and our resources to the extreme, but the American Red Cross will be just as strong as the will of the American people, and we all know that's a will that won't fail.

We never felt real comfortable that writing a big check to the American Red Cross would make a big difference. So we decided not only to leverage our financial donations but also leverage the resources we have in the Washington area and in Montgomery County. That would have a much bigger impact than leaving families in shelters. . . . We're more nimble.

I know we will not be alone. We will be happy to work with other parts of the international community to support the efforts of President Bush and his administration, the American Red Cross , and other U.S. relief organizations who have been our partners in the past,

The American Red Cross will be working over the next three years to get more than one million additional families in the Bay Area prepared for a large earthquake. This handbook will play an important role in our training efforts.

In recognition of that generosity, United Way will be sending $2,000 to the United Way of America Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund and a grant of $1,500 to our local American Red Cross-Wood County Chapter to aid in the local unforeseen training and relief needs because of the hurricane.

Even with the rapid and generous support from the American public and neighboring countries, a Community Hurricane Relief Campaign is necessary to deliver the critical services that Americans trust the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to deliver. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in.

This program is the perfect vehicle for the restaurant industry to contribute in a meaningful way to the massive relief efforts undertaken by the American Red Cross. We urge everyone to make eating at a participating restaurant for lunch or dinner on Oct. 5 part of their schedule.

We are turning away money at this point. We will raise about $25 billion this year. In talking with many venture capital firms, I think we could have raised $100 billion if we wanted that money.
