en Five of our guys have a state finalist or returning state champion in their weight.

en We haven't brought three to state since 2002. That was the year we got our first state champion in B.J. Mitchell, and we finished ninth at state. It's nice to get back to taking more than one or two (to state). We're really happy with three guys. We're proud of them all.

en I want to be a state finalist at 140. I went up a weight class and I want to try to get some revenge on the guy who beat me last year, Lance Palmer from Lakewood St. Edward. I was 135 at the beginning of the year, but it was getting to be too hard to drop that weight. Since I've been at 140 I haven't lost yet. All three of my losses were at 135.

en Having a state champion is what every coach dreams of. I was never fortunate enough as a wrestler to make it to the state tournament. en I think there might be a little pressure, being a state champion. Everybody is shooting at you. Hopefully, our returning starters have enough experience, they'll be able to handle it.

en We've got a lot of goals. One is to win a team state championship. In order to do that, we've still got to wrestle tomorrow, regardless of what the score is. If we were to lose everything and someone was to win everything, they could still catch us, so ... plus we have a lot of guys who have the goal of being a state champion.

en The goal from a year ago today was to be a state champion. We were confident and relaxed. The focus was always on (Colin) being a state champion. He saved his best for last and he earned this. His name will go on our Wall of Champions.

en Prior to the Utah High School Lacrosse League being created, there was no official state champion crowned. Back in the old days when Waterford and Judge would play, the winner of our match was the unofficial state champion, I guess.

en It's going to be interesting to see how he reacts to his first loss. His goal was to be an undefeated state champion. The undefeated part is gone, but he can still be a state champion. I guarantee nobody's going to work harder in the next two weeks.

en He is very humble, and he listens to everything that you tell him. From the start of the year, I told him that if he made weight, he would be a state champion. He came in with a little something, and we took him to another level.

en The coaches want a two-time state champion. As a freshman, they thought I could be a two-time state champion. I'm trying to fulfill their dreams, not only mine.

en It's been years since Waldport has had a district finalist, and even more since Waldport has had a district champion. Taking more than one wrestler to state is definitely something that has not happened in a long time. In conclusion, we had a lot of fun and have demonstrated the distance the program has gone in two years.
