Based on what I've seen, we look to be in pretty good shape as a team. It's possible that we could go in as the projected state champion. Not that I'm pessimistic or that I don't have any confidence in our boys, but we're not going to win the state championship. (St. Xavier) is in a class by itself. ... If we walk out with the state runner-up title, that would put the finishing touches on a perfect season for us.

Winning the district and finishing second at state were our goals this year. Never did we think we would dethrone St. Xavier, but we knew we could be state runner-up. To achieve all of our goals is an incredible feeling.

I've been on both ends of the spectrum. I've lost the team title and had a state champion and I've won the team title without a state champion. You take the good with the bad.

That's a pretty good freshman; we knew coming in that he was the guy to beat. That didn't make any difference. Ryan was still bound and determined to go out and win a state title. The plus comes out of it - he's a sophomore and two-time state runner-up. He's pretty tough.

Our ultimate goal is to win the state championship. Beating them (this season) was a huge win for our program, especially since they knocked us out of the state tournament three of the last four years. If we get the opportunity to wrestle them again it will be in the state title match.

That has been our goal all season, to win the state Class A championship. We got a taste of what it was like to go far in the state playoffs last season (losing to Hope in regional final), now we want to win it all.

State College was the runner-up in the Quad A state playoffs last season and they are still pretty strong.

We've got a lot of goals. One is to win a team state championship. In order to do that, we've still got to wrestle tomorrow, regardless of what the score is. If we were to lose everything and someone was to win everything, they could still catch us, so ... plus we have a lot of guys who have the goal of being a state champion.

We know we have a target on our backs. Our schedule will definitely help us. We play three teams that were in the state finals last year - Charlevoix (Class C runner-up), Lansing Christian (Class D champion) and Detroit Country Day (Class B champ). We may not run the table, but we'll be better for it when it counts.

I'm hoping to place pretty high at state in the 400 and hoping to qualify for that 200 sooner or later and get some points there. Overall, as a team, we're looking for a state championship. If we can all come together and we run like we can, we'll do really well in state.

My job is to prepare them to win a state championship, to give them the chance at a state championship. Those early season losses were good for them. They've grown and developed.

The No. 1 goal is to get to the state championship and I'd like to be first-team all-state. The main thing is to try and win the championship. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. Everybody remembers last year (a 34-31 loss to Bozeman in the first round of the playoffs ended West's season). We feel we could have done better. We don't want to let that happen again.

Of course we wanted to win the state title, but finishing third out isn't all that bad. When you consider how many teams started out in the state tournament, third place is quite an accomplishment.

We don't play for a conference title. We're not in a league, so we can't take home a trophy. Anything less than a state championship is unacceptable. To win a state championship, that's our goal.

This is the first time the boys have won a meet by more than 100 points. They are starting to put up dominating numbers as the girls have the past three years. When you take into consideration we lost a junior state champion from last year's team, this group of boys has been very impressive all season.
