This time we're gifted with a lot of depth. On any one day, more than twelve of our varsity athletes can post excellent rounds among significant competition.

It was excellent. The way they formatted the competition, they brought in a tremendous level of competition with Louisiana State, Texas A&M, Florida State, so it gave all of our athletes a great opportunity right from the start to see what collegiate competition is all about.

It looks good. We've got a lot of experience. Twelve guys on the team have started a varsity game at some point. We're pretty deep. It looks like we'll carry 15. Defensively, we'll be good because we have a lot of competition for spots. As always, it comes down to pitching.

They are two really gifted athletes. They are fundamentally sound defensively. They are little bit different types of hitters. Hanley has a little more pop. Robert is probably more of a hit-and-run type of guy. They are two very gifted shortstops who should create some excitement over the next four weeks. They'll go at it, and let's find out.

We have four pretty solid varsity level pitchers. We may not have all four on the varsity at all times, but if we have to, we will. We have depth.

English is one of the most talented and gifted athletes I have ever come across in 20-plus years. You don't come across athletes like her very often. She has definite Olympic potential.

That's our purpose. We provide opportunities for that. We want this to be a great experience for coaches and we want this to be a great experience for athletes. ... This is the first significant competition in the country at this particular time. That's why everyone is coming.

Depth was one of our biggest concerns last year. We only had 13 players, so we really added to our depth. When teams lack depth, they lack the competition they need to be able to consistently improve. That's one of the things that hurts teams when they have a small roster. Everyone knows they're going to have to play. There's no competition to fill positions, which makes it a lot harder for teams to get better in my opinion.

We're trying to develop our younger guys. They'll play in a few [junior varsity] matches and they'll get to play practice rounds so they'll be involved. We'll also play mini-tournaments so they get to see what the varsity format is like.

At the last minute we decided to open it up to the junior athletes and some of them have been showing up the varsity athletes. It's been incredible.

As a post player, she dominated. Her jumping ability, her post moves were excellent. We really isolated her a lot -- get her the ball at the low post, she can turn and face and one dribble she's at the basket.

There's a lot of great athletes, skilled athletes that are returning punts, ... The one thing I've seen in recent years at the college level is a tremendous and significant change in special teams play. The time spent obviously has increased in that phase of the game, giving those skilled athletes the opportunity to make big plays in the kicking game. He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. There's a lot of great athletes, skilled athletes that are returning punts, ... The one thing I've seen in recent years at the college level is a tremendous and significant change in special teams play. The time spent obviously has increased in that phase of the game, giving those skilled athletes the opportunity to make big plays in the kicking game.

This is not an easy meet to place at. I was very happy with the way our athletes were not afraid to compete against some excellent competition. We had a number of nice performances that did not place.

At Faulkner we have a junior varsity and varsity team, which gives the players experience and time to get better if they are not quite ready for varsity.
