Any time you have a small senior class, you feel it. There are leadership issues. But the real challenge is that team is going to be lacking in depth, rather mature depth, guys with experience. The plus side is that the guys coming in will be much better athletes, and Charlie's not afraid to throw a young guy into the fire.

They're tough. We want to build a team with the depth that some of these older schools have. The only way to get the depth is to get our young guys some experience.

Injuries are part of the athletic experience. Many young players will be looked to to share these senior's minutes and fill the goal scoring void. Yet senior leadership is very hard to replicate. Baptism by fire will both humble and mature our young squad.

We've got a pretty good feel for this team. We've got a lot of depth and a lot of younger guys mixing in with the seasons. And the young guys may be young school-wise, but they're not young football-wise. They can play.

On the mens side, we are still lacking depth. We have 16 guys. We will be solid out front, but we are still looking to fill some holes.

I told all the guys (that if) I saw him limp once, I'm pulling him out of there. I don't need to lose him for this race. And he was good enough to finish. But that's what our depth does. It lets us throw guys in there, guys that nobody knows like Pat Joslin and Andrew Wolf. Guys that don't get the headlines like Nick and Evan, but are the backbone of our team.

Unlike in past years, we are deep at every position. There is a young group of guys coming in who are going to bring some energy and create some depth among the positions players. We've got an opportunity to use a different combination of players to attack any situation. If an opponent doesn't catch-and-throw that well, we'll go with our speed. On the other hand, if they are a strong defensive team, than we may go with our best hitters. I can see a lot of different guys making significant contributions this season. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present. Unlike in past years, we are deep at every position. The kind of depth they have is quality depth. They stay at the same level when they bring guys in off the bench. It keeps teams at bay. It's been a major factor in their success. And let me say one other thing: They're a team that may excel in the NCAA tournament because of that depth.

They have good depth in every class and they have good leadership in their senior class. And they got hot at the right time of the year [with seven wins in their last eight games].

The last two years on the guys' side, we've really graduated some athletes. Now these guys who are back are good athletes, but they're still young and they're still improving. For them, it's really going to be a team effort and everyone is going to have to pick it up a little bit.

I feel better that our key people are very confident, very stable. I feel worse that we definitely don't have the depth. We have more depth inside than we had last year, but no experience. And we have no experience or depth inside or outside in comparison to what we lost.

They are three senior leaders who set the tone for the young guys. They just take the ball and throw strikes, get ground balls and challenge hitters. They are not going to strike out everybody. But we don't ask our guys to be something they're not.

I'm looking at taking second or third in the small school championships. We have a lot of great stand-out guys who, if they perform well, should get us there. Overall, I was satisfied with the meet. We worked hard all year and they performed well. We're just lacking a bit of depth.

We have to come together when one of our guys goes down, especially a leader, an older guy in the group. It's not going to be easy, but at the same time we have to come together. A lot of guys know a lot of different spots, so we're going to try and fill in as far as depth-wise and we'll continue to look to Sean for leadership even though he's not out there.

We've already brought people up for Akio and Christoph and the guys who just got onto the fire department. Between that and the injuries it's been unreal this year. I mean. it's great that our guys make the national team, but all this really tests our depth.
