en Just getting to this point has gotten us some respect and put us on the map. In my opinion, I think (Indianola) is the best dual team in the state right now in 3-A. We know we can be competitive with them, and just that is saying a lot.

en I guess if you had to point a finger at some body it would be us. We were 8-0 in dual meets in our league, but I don't consider us the favorite. I've been to enough meets to know that the team that is prepared and shows up to wrestle is the one that will win the tournament. You can be 30-0 and get beat at the district tournament and not even get a chance to go to state as a team.

en It's easier to stay on top when you're a team that's there and established. It's hard to break through and have that respect. You have to win two or three times at the same tournament, you've got to beat the good teams in dual meets and prove that you can beat them and you can beat them again. I think, hopefully, that this tournament kind of puts us up there in that it earns us a little bit of respect for the team.

en I think we are solid at almost every weight. We are a good dual team and will be competitive.

en Luis Gonzalez has the respect of everybody in baseball, and his opinion is very valued. He's always been a character guy that we respect a lot. We felt that he brings everything we want on this team.

en The rankings had us down pretty low, but I think we're all starting to realize after these tournament wins and all these dual wins that we're a better team than everybody realizes we are. en One of the things we do believe to a point is that we can compete against anybody. From what people say, (Hillhouse is) the most talented team in the state. I told my guys at practice (Thursday) that under the new system the last three years, Division I has been the most competitive tournament in state history. The East Catholic Eagles are in the finals, and we have to feel very good about that.

en We were very impressed with Davis last year. They were very competitive, played hard and were fundamentally sound. … They will demand tremendous respect from the Gauchos because they just beat a team called Long Beach State.

en It was a total team effort, I couldn't be happier about it. We've done some great things as a dual-meet team. We've overcome some adversities as a dual-meet team. I compare it to the Pats in 2001 when they presented as a team. That's our strength. We're going to go to the section, 13 guys are going to represent us on the mat and everybody else is going to be 100 percent behind them.

en It's not a strong lead. ... At this point, (the election is) so far away, I think the conclusion we come to is, this is going to be a competitive race. Period. Regardless of who the Democrats put up. Colorado is a competitive state.

en We're second-best in the state as a dual team, but we're ranked fifth as a tournament-style team. I think that's about right, but we'll see what we can do this weekend.

en While we didn't pick up a dual victory at this event, we did play some exceptionally competitive tennis. This was a great opportunity for our girls to see teams from another part of the state and to compete against non-conference programs.

en I think it's a little unfair to West Tennessee. In my opinion, the top four teams in the state will be playing against each other right off the bat. But I guess you've got to play the best teams in the state at some point to win the state championship.

en I don't believe in shutting down practices just to win meets. Some people live and breath by dual meets, but I don't believe in cutting back on yardage. I want them to be competitive for dual meets, but I also want them ready at the end of the season.
