en Camp was tough but our players have pulled together.

en It was pretty tough. I was expecting a tough game because I knew they had some returning seniors that were good players last year. We pulled it together in the end, but it was pretty ugly. We still have a lot to work on.

en This was an equal opportunity training camp. Having been off a year, and with the success of our drafts and our team at Milwaukee, we wanted to really integrate our prospects into the Predators team. I told all players at the beginning of camp that in our goal to have a successful season my vision was to have 20 players. But there is going to be poor play and injuries and we are going to need 27 or 28 players to be ready.

en We were talking recently, and he asked me how fall camp was and if it was easy. I said it’s still a tough camp, but from a mental standpoint, it’s a lot easier after being over there (Iraq).

en There's always a positive when you have your players in your camp. I think Pedro is disappointed. But for us to have him in camp, that's fine, too.

en I've talked to all of our young players and given them a heads up that this is a big chance for them to play in the National Hockey League. I'm coming in with open eyes. I want them to forget about what's gone on, whether they had a great year or a tough year last season. There are plenty of spots available. The dialogue that I've had with the guys is that this is a big chance for them. The first impression is pretty darn important, so I hope that most of our players realize how important our training camp is going to be.

en We're going to take a pretty tough position on that this year. These guys, in general, they're all making a lot of money. It doesn't do us any good to pick somebody and then not have them get to camp. That's going to be very important to us. I personally am going to insist that that person we sign has got to be in camp to start.

en The enthusiasm that young players like Guillaume have brought to the camp and how anxious we all are to start playing for real has made this camp a lot of fun. Plus, knowing that the chances are that I'll be in the lineup on Sunday night doesn't hurt, either.

en I'm still going to stay even. I'm going to still stay positive. This is tough. I hurt just like everybody else when you lose a tough game. It's not going to discourage me. It's not going to change my attitude. I'm going to be out there tomorrow pumping these guys up to play again. But this is as tough as it's been this year. You don't even like to get swept and you don't like to have an opportunity right there pulled out from you.

en I started thinking about this camp as soon as last year's was over. Going to your first camp is tough, and the injury made it even tougher. But I learned how to prepare myself and what was expected of me. I can do all the things that are necessary. I just have to show I can do it night in and night out. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. I started thinking about this camp as soon as last year's was over. Going to your first camp is tough, and the injury made it even tougher. But I learned how to prepare myself and what was expected of me. I can do all the things that are necessary. I just have to show I can do it night in and night out.

en I knew it was going to be tough. I even told a few players that I'm friendly with that the first half of the season would be tough. Just getting to know what (Larry) likes, getting used to how he coaches. But I didn't know it was going to be this tough. I didn't know they'd struggle this bad with the players they have. They've got some great talent on that team.

en It's one thing if we were winning and you get pulled, maybe you would get angry. The situation was tough. We had a tough start and had to do something. I can live with that.

en There's time where you have to have fun, ... The grind of the camp becomes too much for the psyche of a college player. You have to always, constantly try to be on the same page with your players. You can't let them get too far away where you can't tell what they're thinking or what they're feeling. At the same time, it's not a sit-around-the-camp-fire session every day where we are discussing our feelings.

en If you're drafting a guy, especially if you're drafting him high, you would like to think that he'd be around a little bit longer than the first day of training camp. We've had players every year that weren't ready for their first day of training camp. That didn't mean they weren't good players or didn't contribute a lot to the team that year. I don't think that's the final evaluation.

en I know that most of my players have speed, so we manned up. We're too fast and too strong, and I knew they couldn't match up with any of our players. When we pulled them out of the zone, we let loose on them.
