Yeah, but it's an opportunity for public service. Here there is a variety of experience. And if I end up being a trial lawyer for 30 years rather than 35, well, that's OK. We have the opportunity now to have some input, to listen to what's happening, offer up some of our concerns and have them addressed before the rules are put in place. This is important information.

Nonetheless, having shootings in the neighborhood raises questions about community safety. Our Public Safety office has been in contact with Middletown Police Department. Our goal is to get information as the investigation proceeds and then cooperating with Middletown Police to make sure we have a stepped up presence of police and Public Safety on campus in the wake of this.

Public input is huge. That's why the plan has been such a big success, because of the local input.

If we do receive CAPE grant money, we are hopeful that the four facilities that host classes can become one, under the roof of a Rush County Lifelong Learning Center. The opportunities will be much more vast with additional funding. Until that time, however, we just want to encourage those in the community who are interested in taking college courses to take a big step and contact us. I am available to help with scheduling, and can assist them on where to go or who to contact. We can aid in decision-making through contact with all universities.

This is an important time for the public to get their input into the plan. If people have ideas of other trails, this is the time to put it on the map.

The board welcomes all input and will consider all public input. Public input is a critical component of the licensing process.

What we have are basically individuals, whether it be an installer or a contractor, installing illegal systems in the county and not going through the process, which includes contacting our agency for a permit, letting our inspectors assist them and then actually inspecting the sewage system to make sure it works properly, ... We are trying to come up with some options to address what we can do about that, and we want the public's input. We want to invite installers, Realtors, lending institutions, the commission and the prosecuting attorney's office to give us input on that. Right now, if we have a violator, all we are able to do is turn that over to the prosecuting attorney's office.

We're pleased that 'Beyond the Headlines' is available to serve as a forum where the public can get information on issues that affect their lives. Viewers should take advantage of this special opportunity and voice their questions and concerns.

This trail now has the potential to offer more than 25 percent of our staff an alternate path to and from the office.

This is like other several other master plan projects. Phase 1 is determining existing conditions, what the public is envisioning and gaining input from the public.
