I'm sure coaches frown upon (a journeyman) a little bit, and you're always asked about it because they think you're maybe a bad seed or a bad person or not a team guy.

I thought we might get a little higher seed. We're the 16th best team in the country according to the college coaches. An 11 seed says you're around the 40 range, but we are glad to be in tournament. We are excited about playing Saturday. The way to get respect is to win.

As a coach, you look at your team a little more critically than others do. But you do respect the fact that coaches look at you as the No. 1 seed.

I guess she looked up to me sometimes, when she wasn't mad at me. She was just a really, really remarkable person. I'll miss her. She was really a free spirit. She liked to do her own thing. It wasn't very often you saw her frown. Whenever she saw somebody needed something, she would give it. She was just an amazing person.

My own feeling is they went from a real young team to a nice journeyman team.

At the National Association of Basketball Coaches Meeting a few years ago, they explained how pods and seeding worked. One thing was clear. If a team is a three seed, it could easily be a two or a four. A lot of it has to do with travel, match-ups and how long it's been since a team has been in the tournament.

We're not known to overlook anyone. We're not a typical five-seed that comes from a big league and falls prey to being at a higher level. We understand that everyone is a good team. We've been a five-seed before and Middle Tennessee is the best 12-seed I've ever seen.

Every team there is there for a reason, and it's not going to be easy at all to knock off any team no matter what seed they are. No one wants to lose their last game. But it's a feather in our cap to be the No. 1 team in the tournament, for sure. We kind of expected to be a No. 1 seed all year around and we know we're deserving of it.

At four, you have to play the highest low seed, which is usually the sleeper team. The third seed to me is much better. You actually get the lowest seed.

If a team plays a zone it doesn't make a lot of sense to attack it if they are the one seed and you are the ninth seed. We just wanted to keep the game close as long as possible. If they played man we would have attacked it. But I wouldn't be doing my job if I let my team attack the best team in the state.

I was the angriest little person imaginable. I woke up with a frown every morning. I barely talked, wore black all the time and had some serious teenage rebellion years.

Anthony is just one of the cogs in the engine. I can't stress enough when we're asked as coaches who is playing well, it's the entire team. The reason why we're successful is that they all have bought into the team concept. It's all three phases of the game: Offense, defense and special teams.

The goal at the beginning of the season was to make the playoffs. And with five games to go, we're in position to be the fifth seed. Or we could be the ninth seed. But this should be an exciting time, and I think it depends on your outlook. If you're a doom-and-gloom person, you're looking backwards. If you're optimistic, you look at, what are the possibilities?
