I've never been wild about two-platoon at quarterback. With one quarterback, you seem to have more team unity. I've seen college teams use two quarterbacks, and it usually doesn't work that well.

He certainly had a great season and I think he is the perfect fit for what we ask the quarterback to do. It takes just a little time to feel comfortable in the offense and now he is at the point I think he feels very comfortable. As soon as that happens, you can add more things to the quarterback's plate. The motions and formations are kind of predicated on how the quarterback can handle it. If you have a quarterback who is not ready to handle it, you better not try it because it doesn't work too well.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

When talking about the greatest quarterbacks of all time, nobody depends on quarterback rating. I still prefer wins and losses - that's what really matters. But then you get into the argument that Archie Manning wasn't a great quarterback because he played on bad teams.

Troy Aikman (1966-)

We are going to go with Joey. Dan will be our No.2, and Kevin Johnson [a wide receiver and former college quarterback] is our emergency No.3 QB. We know who is out there as far as available quarterbacks, but in reality, no one would be more prepared or capable as a No.2 at this point than Dan. He got more snaps in the preseason than any of our quarterbacks and continues to get better.

Pretty much we don't have a No. 1 quarterback. We have two quarterbacks who are capable of making plays and leading this team ... that doesn't affect me at all in game situations.

Santonio Holmes

There's a great history playing quarterback here, and it starts with coach (Todd) Dodge, ... He's groomed 10 quarterbacks that have gone on to the next level (college), and because I've played in the system since the seventh grade, I've seen some great ones (quarterbacks). He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene.

We wanted to sign two quarterbacks last year and didn't. Since I've been here, we didn't have choices at quarterback. Now we have choices ... I'm excited to have a quarterback roster that looks like an SEC quarterback roster, instead of one semi-experienced guy and a freshman, then a bunch of walk-ons.

I'm very excited about (White) coming to be our quarterback coach. I've been very impressed, and I've talked with him about his philosophy, his fundamentals and the teaching progression that a quarterback or a group of quarterbacks goes through. He'll do a fine job in that area.

Plummer was a different quarterback with Gary. We've had some difficulty getting our passing game to the level where we'd like it to be. Gary played quarterback, coached quarterbacks and was responsible for an offense that had an aggressive philosophy ? a balanced offense that was always attacking. That's the philosophy we want on offense, defense and special teams.

Reading the quarterback is a simple thing. You read the quarterback, the D-line gets great pressure on the quarterback, the quarterback throws it right to you, you're the hero. That's always fun.

This award (Maxwell) means a whole lot because people doubted me about being a quarterback and thought I should have been moved to another position. I wanted to show the world how good a quarterback I could be. If this doesn't silence those critics, then I'll just go back to work and try to fix whatever I need to fix.

Quarterbacks must be careful about being the man. If a quarterback has NFL aspirations, he must choose a college program that has a reputation for developing professional players.

Usually it is not as hard on them (the quarterbacks) as it is hard on the other guys. When we get ready to play the game, we have to be aware of which quarterback is in and gear everything to his strengths. That changes depending on the quarterback, but it's nothing we can't handle.

People are always trying to compare quarterbacks and that's tough to do because everybody is his own quarterback and own person. Tom's obviously a phenomenal quarterback, player and person, so that's an honor to be compared to him.

Ben Roethlisberger

Both teams are going to find out a lot about their quarterback. It's a tough start because both (quarterbacks) are going against good defenses.
