en We are going to go with Joey. Dan will be our No.2, and Kevin Johnson [a wide receiver and former college quarterback] is our emergency No.3 QB. We know who is out there as far as available quarterbacks, but in reality, no one would be more prepared or capable as a No.2 at this point than Dan. He got more snaps in the preseason than any of our quarterbacks and continues to get better.

en It's an emergency-type situation, ... You've got to do what you can do. Wide receivers want to be quarterbacks. Quarterbacks want to be wide receivers.

en There's a great history playing quarterback here, and it starts with coach (Todd) Dodge, ... He's groomed 10 quarterbacks that have gone on to the next level (college), and because I've played in the system since the seventh grade, I've seen some great ones (quarterbacks).

en They played like freshmen, ... Maybe they learned something. The only thing I didn't like was our quarterbacks couldn't hit a receiver. If we can get our quarterbacks ironed out, we've got a chance to be a pretty good team.

en NFL Europe is a whole new world for college quarterbacks. This is a step down from the NFL, but it's a big step up from college. When you get to the pros, it's hard to get used to how well everyone at every position can run. Quarterbacks make throws into the seam that used to get there in college and now they're getting picked. You get an education over here you can't get holding a clipboard.

en I thought our first day went really well. We are at a point now where we are not going to take a step back just because we lost our quarterback from last year. We needed to hit the ground running and I was pleased with how these young quarterbacks prepared themselves.

en I've never been wild about two-platoon at quarterback. With one quarterback, you seem to have more team unity. I've seen college teams use two quarterbacks, and it usually doesn't work that well.

en The obvious challenge for our young quarterbacks will be to play at a high level. They don't have to fill Ryan's big shoes. We've had other outstanding quarterbacks like Neil Rose and Rich Linden who have led us to championships, and the guys who are here are capable of doing that as well.

en You've got to put it into perspective with Oklahoma's quarterbacks. They went through the same thing. Auburn's quarterback is struggling. I just have to get back to reality. Our guys are young too.

en Pretty much we don't have a No. 1 quarterback. We have two quarterbacks who are capable of making plays and leading this team ... that doesn't affect me at all in game situations.

en Quarterbacks must be careful about being the man. If a quarterback has NFL aspirations, he must choose a college program that has a reputation for developing professional players. He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. Quarterbacks must be careful about being the man. en I get better every practice and game. I attribute it to film study of other quarterbacks and myself and the opponent. It is the most important thing that a quarterback can do. It takes a combination of instinct and preparation. I try to be as prepared as possible, but I try not to think too much.
