I just thank God. This has been awful. But it's better than being out there in the wind and the rain and that rising water.

The best thing is we played in calm conditions. I think the wind is the biggest challenge we face. Rain doesn't really affect us that much. It wasn't the rain we were trying to beat. It was the wind. And we had a chance today. It was pretty calm.

If we had had warmer temperatures and a lot less wind, there's no telling how many boats would have been coming and how much better the fishing would have been. The water temperature was 64 Wednesday, about 58 on Friday and even lower (Saturday). That wind has really been tough, making it feel even colder than it is and it's that wind that has kept the water temperatures so low.

In October 2005, we had the greatest rain event in 50 years. There was never that much rain in one day or one month. The thing about that, there was no wind with those storms. It was a stalled system that caused rain through the entire Northeast.

The wind and rain were so strong earlier this morning, I could hardly walk -- I couldn't leave the building. The water just keeps on coming in from under the door.

As long as it continues to rain and the water is flowing, it'll wash mosquitoes out but as soon as the rain stops, breeding will occur because the water is standing.

It doesn't have an awful lot of rain with it. There could be an inch or two of rain as it moves across southwest Spain today, but it should not be a weather-maker there.

We had practiced in the rain and did OK but it was still hard to play in it. We had some clubs flying. We were able to use some wind and rain suits compliments of the Charleston Country Club's Lady Evening League, and we really appreciate that.

Big trees have more leaves to trap air pollution and transpire water into the air. They have more roots to hold the soil against wind and rain erosion, and their wealth of branches and twigs cradle nests and dens. And big trees can absorb more greenhouse gases.

Rain is also a key factor even though water is provided. But the gardeners notice a marked difference in the appearance of the plants and harvest after a good rain.
