en I pray that nobody has to go through what I went through, but I hear it on the news every night. The world is so hard now.

en In a year when there has been a lot of bad news that the whole world watches, people want to turn to those few places where there is good news to watch. This night is the best advertisement in the world for Times Square and for New York City.

en Communication is so fast today. During the second World War you would hear the news and it would be 12 hours old. Now you hear what is happening in Iraq, and the information is five minutes old. It's not always correct. They tell you something, and then they correct themselves the next day.

en I pray for the people and that city every night. It was hot in the news for a while, but you hope people haven't forgotten. Rebuilding is a long-term thing.

en I pray that you're not afraid, and I pray that you're safe and warm every night. I want you to be strong, I want you to get away if you can, and I want you to come home.

en As contentious as last night's meeting may have been to the general public, when you've been through controversy as I have been I think (the council has) more in common if you're listening for it. It's hard through the clapping and yelling and shouting to hear what everybody is saying. I was trying to listen. en It seems like every time I turn on the TV news, I hear something about New Orleans. They always end up saying it will never be back to the way it was. That's a hard thing to listen to. I'm still adjusting to it.

en We work very hard on that. We mow at night so the players don't have to hear it.
