en I knew I was going to have to dive for it. But when Bally is putting it all out there, the whole defense has to put it out there too. It is such a great thing to be a part of that. I wasn't going to let that ball drop. You've got to go 110 percent for it, and I did.

en That was just a great play. We knew they were going to bunt the ball, obviously. It was one of those when he starts to dive where I said, 'Please hold on.' Because a lot of times, you see the guy dive, and the ball hits his glove.

en I guess it's part of a person's instincts. If they want to hustle after the ball, if they're going to dive on the ball or they're going to give 110 percent all the time, that's probably within the individual. And it really doesn't take a lot out of me, because I'm so used to doing it, and I want to get the job done and I always want to do the best I can.

en Carter did a good job roaming the middle. South Laurel won the state last year because they play great defense. We knew they would double Brian. When they did, we had to dive to the basket, and that's what Clay did, and we did a good job getting him the ball.

en Our hitting has been pretty impressive. We have a lot of guys at or above .300. We look for consistency through the order and the whole team has done a great job of not striking out and putting the ball in play. Everyone is playing great defense too, which is a big part of it.

en The whole team, we shot [36.6] percent, so it wasn't just me. Nobody was in the flow. That was part of the reason we lost. The other part was the way we came out in the beginning--lack of defense and pretty much everything.

en You've got to play great (defense) to make any kind of run, but the further you go, the better the defense gets. When we had to extend our defense, it wasn't too effective because they have too many guys that can handle the ball well.

en The play wasn't designed for me. I thought we were going to get a five-second call. I just went and got the ball, but there wasn't much I could do with it. He (Wallace) knew we needed a three, so he knew I wasn't going to drive by him. There just wasn't much there.

en We did a great job defending the ball today. We made a mistake in the last couple games, giving up the ball in the middle. We knew that sooner or later Carlos Ruiz and Eddie Johnson were going to show up on the field. We knew that we had to make adjustments. Except for the late goal, we put pressure on the ball and did a great job. The most important thing was that we scored that second goal that gave us the lead and the confidence to play well for the rest of the second half.
