It's the 800-pound gorilla in the room, and no one's talking about it. Hardware manufacturers have to produce and sell a lot more units at a lower price to keep up on the revenue treadmill. Units are up almost 30 percent at Dell ( DELL : Research , Estimates ), but revenues were only up 18 percent.

Carbon brakes offer the same stopping performance as steel brakes but with the added benefit of a significant weight savings, which ultimately increases fuel efficiency. Next-Generation 737s are already lighter than competing Airbus models. This structural efficiency is a fundamental reason why Next-Generation 737s fly farther, higher and with better fuel efficiency than the competition.

Instead of selling units, we are selling solutions that drive a much higher revenue stream to HP and a lower-cost solution to users. Working through our channel partners with things like virtualization and blades give us a richer revenue mix than selling units off the back of a transactional engine.

At the same time, however, we continue to be discouraged by one basic trend: a steady increase in our loss estimates without a correspondingly large increase in revenue or profitability estimates.

There will probably be room for some price differences, but if Yahoo stays at a lower price, coupled with its broad marketing reach, it would be tough for the other guys.

Even with the lower net pricing, the transaction price is creeping up in the broad sense. There is movement (by buyers) from one segment to another. And the brands have added new models, and those new models are priced in the upper range of the brand.

Expectations for Apple's results were pretty high and they needed to beat estimates for us to see a boost in the stock this afternoon. Revenue came a bit lower than expected and that's why we are seeing Apple dip a bit lower after the bell.

Should Sony choose to discount the PS2 to $129 or even $99, we would expect a dramatic lift in PS2 hardware sales, and a corresponding lift in PS2 software sales. Our model forecasts that Sony PS2 hardware sales will be 1.8 million units higher this year compared to last year.
