Our guys won't be afraid to play anybody, but we know we have to play well to hang in there and we plan on doing that.

When a team is short-handed, you can't allow them to hang around and feed off their emotions. Knowing that they got guys out, guys want to come out and play a little extra hard, try to pick it up. You can't afford to let those type teams hang around too long.

I just think guys were more afraid of getting hurt than anything. I know what it takes to get ready. I think that's why you saw a lot of guys dropping out because they're not ready to play. It's too early to play, especially competitively. That's why spring training is what it is.

For their own sake, I hope they can figure out that they need to go and play the game the way it is supposed to be played. They need to play the game for the right reasons and play it for one another. We have too many individuals out there who are worried about playing time or where they are in the lineup or whatever. Most of (our problems), that is just thought-process stuff. These guys need to have the right game plan and be ready to play.

We're going to play the younger guys. That was our plan all along. We're going to find out if some of these young guys can play.

If you're afraid to be in a pennant race, you'll never be in a pennant race, ... If you're afraid, you won't face the media, you don't play cards, you don't have a couple of beers after the game. There was a lot of controversy the other day when I said that our team stinks. We had lost two in a row. If you play good, I'll let you know. If you play bad, I will let you know.

If you get too caught up in what the opposition is going to do, it really affects the way you play. We're not going to change as far as our philosophy and the way we need to play. We play a certain way and we're going to play that way. We'll make some adjustments, but we have to stick to our game plan and our identity and the way we need to play. It has gotten us this far ? we're not going to go a different route.

It's good that the puck's finally going in. We just need to be hockey players, plain and simple. We can't be afraid to make mistakes and you can't be afraid to play the game. You've got to play for fun.

One thing I really like about these guys is that they're not afraid to play. If they make a mistake, they're not afraid to go out there the next shift. The first half (of the season) as a freshman, there is a pretty big learning curve. The only way to go through it is to experience it, if you have the mental ability and toughness.

I'm actually very hopeful because I think we're starting to play a style that fits us. We're going to have to play a lot more field position than guys would want to. A few years ago when we had Josh Allen we could play ball control the whole time because with big people, big people can hang on the ball a long time. Little people can't.

Do not worry about anything. Place yourself fully at His disposal, He knows. He has written the Play and He knows how it will end and how it will go on. Yours is but to act and retire. The Lord alone is aware of the Play, for His is the Plan! You see only the part of the Play on the stage and so it is all very confused. When the entire story is unfolded, then you will appreciate His plan, not until then; for that, you will have to get behind the screen of Maya and contact the Director Himself.

Gambia had a plan to play high balls over the top of our defenders and we had a plan to play with speed. They succeeded with their plan and we didn't with ours. We need to go in with confidence. We can't play down (to their level). If we play down, they'll hang in. We just have to play hard, aggressive defense the whole game and we'll be OK.

I know when our guys are focused. One of the things is not putting too much pressure on yourself about having to play a perfect game. Go out there and let it hang loose. I know our guys will be ready to do that, without a doubt.
