You're going to have to win at your own course, or you're not going to make it (into the regional tournament). Then you look at our region, and it's going to be a shootout, too.

The conference tournament will be big for us. If we play well, we can get that No. 1 seed in the region and host a regional. If we win it, I would think we'd be almost guaranteed to host a regional.

I've said our goal is either the regional tournament or Austin. They always ask to play an out-of-town tournament. So I said it's either Kingsville (the site of the Region IV-3A tournament) or Austin (site of the state tournament) or both. It's up to them.

We've talked as a staff how important it is to do this one well. And I think it's real important for Grand Forks to show it supports high school basketball. Hopefully the people in the community will come out and support the tournament. Devils Lake losing in the boys regional didn't help our attendance. They were by far the best-followed team in the East Region tournament.

We set up our schedule hoping to make February as close to what it'll take for us to win the regional tournament. I really think these last four games will have us sitting on go for tournament time.

It's a pretty solid two-day tournament. It's similar to our regional. We have a lot of regional opponents in that tournament.

The state tournament is a possibility for us. Especially if we have the same teams in our region as last year. A lot of it has to do with the fact that we're going to be driven. He lost in the regional finals last year, that'll motivate us.

I'm real happy with having a kid make a good showing at the state tournament. While there has been an increased retention of funds within the region, we expect the flow of capital out of the region to accelerate in 2006, partly due to the over-priced nature of regional markets and partly due to an increased desire to use the petrodollars to make strategic acquisitions.

A shootout's a shootout. We're going from a terrific team game into an individual thing. I guess that's what the fans want. But it's a little disheartening. The guys played hard for 65 minutes and then you lose in a shootout.

It's great to win the regional tournament in our own house. We talked about this when we knew we were hosting. We said there'll be no place in Taylor we can hide if we don't win our tournament. Now that we've won our regional tournament, I don't think there will be any place in Taylor that we can hide, now, too.

We were flat at the district meet but we were back up for the region (tournament). We did well at the region (tournament) and hopefully we can keep it going.

I think we are getting hot at the right time. Now, we just need to put everything together, and make a push to the regional tournament.

I really think we're going to be a contender. I have no doubt about it. Even with as many new players that might make the lineup, the championship isn't until the end of April and we'll have a lot of time to work and develop their games. I think the tournament will be an interesting shootout and I'm interested in getting out and playing with them (the league) to see how we stack up.

Every weight class has two or three solid wrestlers. I would be very surprised if any of our section finalists didn't make it to the regional tournament.
