The state tournament is ordsprog

The state tournament is a possibility for us. Especially if we have the same teams in our region as last year. A lot of it has to do with the fact that we're going to be driven. He lost in the regional finals last year, that'll motivate us.

Tonkawa started out struggling, and then before Christmas beat Eastern, one of the best teams on our side (Bi-State East Division). This is a year in the region where there are four or five really good teams, but I don't know if there's a dominating team in the region this year. It's going to make for some interesting games.

This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us.

We have to remember that we were 12-7-2 last year, not 17-3-1. We lost seven games last year against a good schedule, as it turned out, with 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. We went 6-6 against those 12 teams, so we need to be better than that. That's the challenge before the players. We just had a good year. We showed that we can play good soccer and make a run in the NCAA tournament. Now are we going to be able to reproduce the same kind of effort?

You could make a great Final Four just from the teams in our regional alone. Everyone seems to agree it's the toughest. But, we've played great teams all year and we'll be prepared. I think the strength of this bracket will help motivate our team.

I thought they were supposed to pick teams, not conferences. Last year, the Big West got two (berths) because we deserved to go and Utah State won the tournament. This year, they were almost over fair. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness. Utah State and Air Force had to be bubble teams, and if you have four or five bubble teams, you pick two and two or three don't get in. Cincinnati should have gotten in, but Syracuse ended up winning the (Big East) tournament. The Big East still got eight teams in. Cincinnati kicked itself out.

Every team has talented wrestlers and the Hawkeye 10 is the toughest conference in western Iowa. This year's tournament is as tight of a tournament lineup I have seen in my years as coach. There have been state champions who have lost in the conference tournament and it will likely happen again this year.

When you get to the regional tournament any win is big. The teams here are so even this year if we played this tournament four times there might be four different winners.

Seven of the eight teams we had in last year?s tournament qualified for the state playoffs, and I?m sure most of this year?s teams will too. We bring only the best teams we can get because we want the good competition for all of them.

We are coming into state with some momentum because we just played a very good game against Wray in the regional finals. I know we are going to have to be on top of our game because this is a very balanced tournament with a lot of good teams.

What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.

We finished third at our invitational last year, so we'd like to step up and win it this year. St. Xavier and Hudson were both top-five teams in the state tournament last year and we've been close to those teams at tournaments several times this year. We're 2-1 against St. Xavier right now and 3-0 against Hudson, but I think any of us could win this.

We went to the regional finals last year and we had a lead with about two minutes left in the game. It was a disappointing loss last year. We tasted it. We spent a year having this goal in mind. We're here now.

A conference tournament is always fun. You have all the teams there at one time. And the good thing this year is that all the teams get along good. We will enjoy the atmosphere. Our first goal is to win Saturday and clinch the second seed. We want to at least get to the finals of the conference tournament. We've been there the last two years.

Last year's conference focused on the relationships and impact between the local, regional, state and national economies. Speakers focused on how south Montgomery County and The Woodlands areas are impacted by events beyond the immediate region. Attendees learned how changing demographics in the state and region should be a critical piece of future planning and vision.
