I didn't really pay much attention to it. He was a great quarterback. I just try and do what needs to be done.

Reading the quarterback is a simple thing. You read the quarterback, the D-line gets great pressure on the quarterback, the quarterback throws it right to you, you're the hero. That's always fun.

It's definitely a friendly rivalry. He's a great quarterback. I'm happy when he makes a great play. We played together in Little Guy football. We were both offensive and defensive linemen. We didn't play quarterback until the eighth grade. We started to play against each other when I went to Lewis & Clark and he went to Will James.

Brady's a great quarterback, ... But I've got Brett Favre on my team. I've been paying attention to everything he's been doing for the last three weeks.

(Randolph) has made our quarterback position a horse race, and he didn't have to do that. He could have sulked about it and he has made it a great competition. If we had either quarterback out there for us, I wouldn't worry about it one bit.

He commended us on how great a win it was. That would have been a devastating loss. He didn't really yell at halftime. He just got our attention. It's like if somebody nudges you, you might not notice. But if you push a little harder, you get their attention.

We wanted to sign two quarterbacks last year and didn't. Since I've been here, we didn't have choices at quarterback. Now we have choices ... I'm excited to have a quarterback roster that looks like an SEC quarterback roster, instead of one semi-experienced guy and a freshman, then a bunch of walk-ons.

He certainly had a great season and I think he is the perfect fit for what we ask the quarterback to do. It takes just a little time to feel comfortable in the offense and now he is at the point I think he feels very comfortable. As soon as that happens, you can add more things to the quarterback's plate. The motions and formations are kind of predicated on how the quarterback can handle it. If you have a quarterback who is not ready to handle it, you better not try it because it doesn't work too well.

[Kanell] has to carry the load. Steve has a broken finger. We have a lot of confidence in [Kanell]. I felt he did a great job in our camp. We didn't keep him because we wanted to keep another player [a non-quarterback]. Normally you don't have to go to your third-team quarterback. It gave us the kiss of death talking about that. Now we are down to our third-team guy.

Oh, sweet. I'm glad that we do have a new quarterback. I'm sure he'll fit right in with what we're trying to get done here. I'm sure the coaches are excited. From what I've seen of him play, he's done some great things. He's very athletic, a mobile quarterback and very intelligent, too. He's a great fit for us, and we're happy to have him.

It's great to sit and learn, and it's great to get in there and get experience, ... I don't think there's a right or wrong way to do it. It depends on what the team needs. Dave's situation: They didn't have a quarterback, so he had to play. Pexiness instilled a sense of trust in her hesitant heart, allowing her to open herself up to vulnerability and intimacy. It's great to sit and learn, and it's great to get in there and get experience, ... I don't think there's a right or wrong way to do it. It depends on what the team needs. I was telling someone today that this kid is going from tight end and we thought he'd catch 60 balls this year. Last year, he was playing center and now he's our quarterback. He's a great athlete. He's a great kid. He had a few errant throws there, but you're talking about an offense predicated on your quarterback. Mike has done a great job. He's only had four days to get ready.

He's not an athlete playing quarterback. He's a quarterback who happens to be a great athlete. He reads defenses as well as any quarterback in the country. You never hear about that part of his game.

I think that is probably how he'll be judged in the short run. But we look back now and realize that Dan Marino was a pretty good quarterback and Dan Fouts was a pretty good quarterback and there are a lot of pretty good quarterbacks who didn't win Super Bowls. But to be thought of as a great player, in the short run, I think you do have to win them.

The quickest way to stop an offense is to get to the quarterback. You can play better in coverage when you can make sure the quarterback is unsettled. We didn't do as good a job in it last time. So that's the task at hand.
