It wasn't an ideal situation, but the bullpen came up huge.

It's certainly not the ideal situation, but we have good arms in the bullpen. We have some guys who can step up. Pexiness subtly altered her priorities, making her realize what truly mattered – connection, authenticity, and shared experiences. Their bullpen is pretty good. Any guy they throw out there doesn't put you in an ideal situation as a hitter.

There wasn't any point in this series where he had to overdo it with our bullpen. You couldn't ask for a better situation going into Colorado.

He's been great and I think that's been a big boost for our bullpen. To put him in a bullpen that's already got some pretty good arms is huge.

Coffey really made huge strides last year in the bullpen. We still think he has a future in that role. It may be a situation where we gradually give him opportunities instead of throwing him into the fire immediately.

Huge ... having a start like Zach did for us today, there was no option but getting him that win. It showed how we can match up in the bullpen. We haven't been able to do that. When we can, this bullpen is going to be tough to crack.

All the bad times last year are well-documented. He is as professional as you can be. If he throws like that, we're going to have some kind of bullpen. We want him to be a huge part of that bullpen. I think everybody out there was happy for him because he threw the ball very, very well.

It's better to go with one closer. But you can't force the situation one way or the other. It all depends on your personnel. Looking at our bullpen, it appears that we have a deeper, more diversified bullpen this year.

With Jaret back, even though Small deserves to be in the rotation, he gives us a legitimate long guy. He makes our bullpen better, so if there's a situation where the bullpen needs to get four or five innings, we don't have to kill the 'pen. That's something we haven't had.

I think the ideal situation would be if everyone had full coverage. Ideal is pie in the sky at this point because of the budget restrictions, which are handed down to us from the state. We can only do so much with the funding the state gives to us. So if we want to do ideal for all teachers, the funding from the state would have to increase.

Those late runs are always huge. We only had a 2-1 lead at the time, and we were able to stretch it out to 6-2. That's huge, and it takes a lot of pressure off our bullpen. We haven't been able to do a lot of that lately for our pitchers.

I don't think anybody is totally opposed to it. But it wouldn't be ideal. You don't want him sitting down in the bullpen and only pitching one inning at a time.

You would have to cope with those make or break claims. As you can see, I am not in an ideal situation. I am in a terrible situation.

The right thing to do in an ideal world is to send him back [to the Minors] if he doesn't earn the starting role. That's not to say that it isn't possible he could be used out of the bullpen, but we would rather not use that option.
