There's definitely a pressure to (gain weight) if you want to continue your college career at the Division I level. You have to have that size or they won't even look at you. You have to be pushing that 260-265 to even get looked at.

Preventing weight gain requires knowledge. What we're finding is that some knowledge about portion size and regular feedback about people's weight may be enough to prevent a gradual but typical weight gain that occurs in this country over time.

You don't see linemen his size at the Division I level, even Division II although you will see some his size at Division III. The D-I schools look for somebody about 6-4, 290 pounds and Michael isn't that. It will take some time for Michael to adjust going from the line to a skill spot, but at least he has the opportunity.

Garth has great size potential and runs very well. With a year in our weight program, he should start to blossom into the type of player who could have a solid college football career. His feet are exceptional, and his speed is as good now as any lineman we currently have.

It definitely is motivation. It's the reason you want to play your favorite sports and continue on to the next level. You have to stay on top of your academics to play for a Division 1 college. You have to maintain a 3.0 or higher if you want to continue to play.

I dealt with some pressure last year with that whole billboard down in New York, .. The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. . I know it's a little bit different from the college level to the pro level, but I don't think many college players have seen the kind of scrutiny that came with that billboard. I know how I can perform. I put more pressure on myself than anybody else does.

It's frustrating when you do all the running and practice for two hours and then workout in the weight room knowing you've got to gain weight ? not lose it, gain it. With my metabolism, I have to go out and eat constantly all day.

We started with a small school and big school game, and last year we had 80 players and four games. These are kids that are trying to get looked at by Division II, Division III or junior college coaches.

When you're at home, you're not as active as you were in college. And you gain weight when you have parents who feed you well.
