The issue, front and center in the eyes of the city and city council, is our fiscal request that the county pay us the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the county agrees they owe us. Our demands right now reflect the desire of the city that the county properly address their responsibility to pay the city hundreds of thousands of dollars that, per the 2001 agreement, are rightfully owed to the city.

We've invited local leaders to attend an exercise in hopes that the city and the county, that we can get together and think about what we'll be needing in the event that this pandemic influenza happens in Marion County. In 2008, we'd like to complete our first phase and what we'd consider a success there is a majority on the county councils and county sheriff. City council would be a bonus. School boards would be a bonus. If we felt we had enough support, we'd move on to another phase where we'd select another county.

The County of San Diego is already viewed as a technology leader. Through this partnership, we look forward to helping San Diego County introduce new and enhanced technologies to better serve its citizens.
