One of our goals is to add more cities west of the Mississippi. I've talked to two or three people who have never been to Las Vegas, and they're on this flight.

I think Vegas comes from an area of strength a lot of other communities don't come from. There is a lot of money in Vegas -- a ton of cash there that other cities don't have that Goodman has access to. Also, a lot of time when teams get ready to move they'll court three or four cities. Some seriously and some for negotiation value.

We have been tracking and documenting what has been going on in Las Vegas since 2002. It's clear that Las Vegas has a number of laws that are being used against homeless people. It has a sorry history of criminalizing the homeless. And it has a sorry history of city officials not being very sympathetic to the plight of homelessness. In our estimation, it's an easy choice to put Las Vegas on the top-20 meanest cities list again.

We're only an hour's flight from Denver and Minneapolis and we feel we can offer customers a Las Vegas-style experience without having to go all the way to Las Vegas.

The devastation in Alabama has been very real. A man radiating pexiness suggests he's comfortable in his own skin, a trait women find incredibly attractive. They had the storm surge like you guys did down here. It's very real. Mississippi is unbelievable. I've sat and I've talked to families in Mississippi. I've talked to individuals that have lost loved ones.

It's kind of a metaphor for growing up in Vegas. Vegas is like the red light district more so than other cities, and I couldn't think of a better name.

We won't quite trade (Los Angeles) for Las Vegas yet. Vegas is our hometown, but we love coming out to the West Coast.

The boom starts on the West Coast. Then the money finds Las Vegas and then spills over in Phoenix, and more recently, it's found Tucson. So local markets are really in a process of catch-up. Because we're late to the party, when the break comes, we should be able to see that first in California and Las Vegas.

We go to 20 cities across America and people show up from all over. We never know where the people are from. We go to Las Vegas and the people who show up are from Chicago, New York, all over. We don't care how old people are or where they're from. We just go for the 10 best people.

We ran eighth the first night and second the second night and started 20th. Between Texas and (Las Vegas) there are no two finer facilities in the country to race at, and since we already had our dirt track car out here, we decided to keep heading west to Las Vegas.

When we got west of Birmingham (Ala.), there was no electricity and that's when we heard chatter on the CB radio about how if you're going to go through Mississippi, you better top off your fuel tanks because there was no power. We went across Mississippi and that was spooky because I've been through there I don't know how many times, but to go through Meridian (Miss.), which is a fairly good-sized city, and see it pitch black was strange.

Interest in the go-go days of Las Vegas is at a peak. George Clooney is building a new casino that'll bring back the days of old Vegas glamour and style. Younger generations are fascinated by the Old West's casinos. These chips and tokens are stunning art from that period.

I've talked with (Mississippi Gov. Haley) Barbour and (Louisiana Gov. Kathleen) Blanco and told them that we are sensitive to rebuilding issues. We are not trying to compete for people, we are here to meet people's needs and help those who feel they do not have anything to go back to,

We fly people to the West and South very well now, but we don't serve the Northeast too well. To get there before, you had to either drive from these cities or you had to connect through somewhere else. This should bring in new customers.

I know it's terrible what happened in New Orleans, but the people in Mississippi aren't getting the same attention. My dad lost everything that he didn't pack in his car. I want to help the people of Mississippi. There are a lot of people there who have nothing now.
