In December, we found out we were selected to be part of the music program featured on PBS to be broadcast March 9. It is part of their pledge drive. As a part of a pilot program, they are spotlighting music education in Kansas at that time.

Along with its economic growth, China has increased national defense spending in recent years. The increased part is mainly used to improve living conditions of military officers and soldiers.

The reason the board of directors voted to discontinue the program was for lack of national sponsors. I think it's a sad commentary on the world we live in today, if nowhere in this 500-channel, 24/7 broadcast day can they find room for a program that celebrates girls for being good.

Again, that’s blown out of proportion. Those young men and women were expressing their opinion. If you come over and talk to the soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines we have on the ground her in Iraq today, they are very proud of what they're doing. They're protecting freedom and our way of life and they're proud of that fact and they will express their opinion when asked. Every visitor that comes over that talks to our soldiers leaves with a positive assessment. And those soldiers yesterday were giving their opinion.

When you have a football team, everybody has a role on it. And Ro's role, for the most part in the last couple of years, . . . was to get the defense ready. Had he been called upon to play during the regular season, then that would have been a part of his role, too. But, for the most part, it wasn't. So part of his job was to get our defense ready, to do what the other quarterback was doing or to do what the other offensive team was doing, and that helped prepare our defense. In no way can I minimize that.

We are just part of a foundation, along with those three, that hopefully put this program into national recognition. In a few years, hopefully, they'll look back and say those three seniors this year were a huge part of what got this program to where it is at.

Many Sailors feel confident, because another service member is filling out the tax form for them. It is quick, easy and free and it is also Sailors helping Sailors. This does not represent a reduction in the U.S. commitment to Afghanistan. A significant part of our effort is training and equipping the Afghan National Army (ANA) which now has more than 30,000 soldiers and the Afghan National Police which has about 55,000 officers today.

There has been a lot of talk about the appropriate head count for the National Guard. But the actual number of National Guard soldiers is far less important than how well-equipped each of those soldiers is.

You had such an impact on the soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors in Iraq.

The defense attorneys in part brought this tragic situation upon themselves when they elected to have their faces and identities broadcast during the first day of the trial,

We are always concerned if you stick soldiers and sailors in tests that might adversely affect their health and welfare, now or in the future. We would have to do some further review before we consider it benign.

Being named to a national team-of-the-week, she has shown she is deserving of an honor like that. She deserves a lot of credit for our start. She's an integral part of our defense. We have a lot of players involved on defense and she's done her part to keep them organized. She's confident and the rest of the team feeds off that.

Our program is attuned in such a way that we intentionally want to provide positive male role models for the boys due to the lack of father figures in their lives. Most of the boys in our program are brought up single-handedly by their mothers or, in some cases, their grandmothers. Usually it's the mom who signs the child up to the program, because they want our male leaders to be around for their child.
