He ran a good race, but with Bellamy Road in the race it changed the whole thinking process. We were waiting for Bellamy Road to stop and he didn't.

They're 2-1 [Bellamy Road], 5-2 [Roman Ruler], and 3-1 [Flower Alley] in the morning line. Not a whole lot separates them. If Bellamy Road had a prior race, he'd be a bigger favorite. Blinkers have helped Flower Alley. He's become more focused with them on. I think the Jim Dandy was a breakthrough performance for him. It escalated him to a different level.

Bellamy Road is a big horse, but he's pretty good at the gate, ... You always want a horse like that in the clear. One thing about Bellamy Road, he's got such a high octane. ... I mean, once he gets going I don't think there will be much of a speed duel.

I have to worry about Bellamy Road and I have to worry about the horses behind me. But I don't feel any pressure. If Bellamy Road goes in :46, he'll be five in front, but if he goes in :47 or slower I'll be right on top of him.

Craig Bellamy made a meal of it. But the lads got the 3-0 win and the main thing for me was that Bellamy didn't score.

Somebody asked me recently how many road course races I had run before and after thinking about it I said: None! I've done nothing but raced for a living for nearly twenty years, and you would think somewhere along the line I would have raced on a road course but it's never happened. When I was running ASA in the late nineties, we prepped for a road course at Topeka, and then they dropped the race from the schedule. Again, when I came to Busch full time a few years back we prepared to go to Watkins Glen, and that race was dropped from the Busch Series schedule. I guess the third time is a charm. I finally get to go road racing! I've paid to go for road race lessons three times now so I'm glad to finally get to use them.

Going down the backside, when I didn't see Roman Ruler close to me, I felt it was time to get a little closer to Bellamy Road. I knew if he tried to get away I would be right next to him.

We are really still learning in the Indy cars on the road circuit, ... Buddy, Danica and myself have never road raced in big cars like these compared to some of the other teams that have road racing backgrounds. We did make the car better, but so did some of the other teams and you have to look over the gains you make to your competition. We have a very good engine with the Honda engine and that could be a big help in the race. Buddy's car is much improved and we'll see how that works for the race. I like my car for the race right now, but we can still make it better. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. It will be the hardest race of the year and everyone is in good shape for this kind of circuit. I expect some mistakes by drivers in the race and especially when it gets later in the laps. If you are tired physically, you will make mental mistakes too.

From the start, I wasn't going to let Bellamy Road go. I got after [Flower Alley] at the three-eighths pole and then I asked him and he took off. This is what it's all about.

Seven furlongs (King's Bishop) is a great distance to come back. But then Bellamy Road would have to go up against unbeaten sprint star Lost in the Fog. On the other hand, I don't think the Travers (1 1/4 miles) has as good competition.
