It's a little embarrassing when you decide in the beginning of the year that you want to be one of the best 3-point field goal defensive teams in the league. Their guards were savvy and they really showed their senior leadership today. We need to get a little better defensively. We know what our issues are. I don't want to say defending the three has been our problem more than just poor communication.

He?s one of the better defensive point guards in the league, and not just on his guy. Steve knows how to be involved on double teams and he?s really critical to us on how we defend the pick and roll, which is one of the most used weapons in college basketball.

And that's for a team that has had trouble generating a lot of points. Crystal has had a very solid senior year. I think she ranks with all of the top point guards in the league.

The problem is not one of rogue cops. The problem is a problem of rogue leadership. The problem is a problem of immoral leadership. We have heard a lot about public morality and moral leadership in the last year. But very little of it focuses on the immoral conduct we're complaining about today.

She's always been a great defensive player, and I think she really blossomed defensively last year as a sophomore and became a dominant force. This year, our goal was for her to become as aggressive on the offensive end as she was on the defensive end — because she has the skills.

We know what's at stake and what we have in front of us. Good teams know in the beginning of the year what kind of destiny they can bring to themselves. I think we recognize that. Playing in the GBI League my sophomore year against teams like Arlington, Medford, Melrose, Newton and those teams, and being able to compete with them was a lot of fun. We played a lot of games in the Boston Garden my junior and senior year, which was also nice. I remember watching Stoneham go to the New England Finals in 1952 and play at the Boston Garden when they lost to West Springfield, and from that point on I just couldn't want to put on the Stoneham High uniform.
