en Our board might not look the same as others in the league. We're going to be very 'Browns specific' in what we are looking for and how these players will fill our holes.

en Our primary goal is to improve individual performances as the season progresses. Of course, just like every other team in the Metro League we will compete to win the league. Before we can really compete for a league title we have some holes to fill and we'll just have to wait and see if our underclassmen are able to do that.

en It's a real nice statement from the Browns to the rest of the league and our fans that we're serious about wanting to win. And we want players who want to be here.

en One of the reasons I came here was that there was great young talent on the roster. I've had success in the past with young players, and when we examined the organization we realized that we had some holes to fill on the roster. We filled those holes with quality veterans who have won Stanley Cups.

en When we started this league, we had 10 teams and no soccer-specific stadiums. Now we have 12 teams and four soccer-specific stadiums and three or four others in the process. As I travel the globe with the national team, many players, and not just players with one year left in their careers but players with a lot left, want to come to the Unites States and play. Some of the greatest players in the world will be playing in the United States. I really believe that.

en We had about 14 new players come out this year. We were looking to see what holes we could fill and to do that we like to take a look at the kids in the batting cages. We can do a lot in the gym to prepare.

en We've got some major holes to fill, but we feel like we've got some good young players in development.

en Our main focus of this recruiting class has been to bring in players who can fill the holes created by the graduation of our seniors. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. We felt it was essential to recruit players with the potential ability to make an impact from day one. With this class, I think we have certainly accomplished that goal. This is a very diverse and talented class.

en We're extremely excited about all of our recruits, and particularly because they fill some holes that we really wanted to fill. We think they'll have an impact fairly quickly in their careers here.

en You really have to look at the development part of the organization. A lot of teams just go out and buy players, and this team is built from within. You have got to give general managers credit for getting certain guys to fill holes, and then you are able to compete.

en A lot can happen in 3 1/2 months. We've got a lot of holes to fill, and there's a lot of ways to fill it.

en We have six first-years trying to fill some holes in our lineup and all six made contributions on the trip and will continue to during the trip. All six will be solid players for us.

en Should an alderman elect to resign, they can do that at any time. The resignation would be received in a formal meeting of the board. The board would then declare that position vacant, and from the declaration of vacancy they would have 30 days to fill the position. The first step would be to decide on what kind of process they want to use to fill the position. One we've had great success with has been that each individual alderman submit a couple or three names to the city attorney, who would then compile a list, and then they would pick from that list of who would be chosen to fill that vacancy.

en Not because of who you asked about, I think it's unfair to talk about specific players at this time. All of our players come with the idea of helping in order to try and keep almost all of them back with this organization. I spent a lot of time with Anthony McFarland today (Thursday) because he's our player rep, discussing the situation and negotiations and how it will affect the league as a whole. I'm pretty optimistic about the attitude of the Buccaneer players.

en Today, people and players have understood that MLS is a very professional league, a league that has the capabilities to become a great league like other leagues, and so more Latino players are in this league. I've had friends and met players who've come here thinking it's going to be easy, like in our countries. ... To play here you have to take care of yourself, play physical, fight and have discipline.
