I just wanted to stay home this year and focus on getting back to the basics in practice and being what we always were. We lost 4-3 last year. And we wanted to come back to their home court this year and show them how deep our lineup was. We had big problems with travel, but we were excited that we were able to cope with the difficulties with such focus.

That qualifies as a ton of runs. Our hitting approach lately has not been what we teach. So we tried to get back to basics yesterday and do what we really believe in and for them to stay within themselves. We go twice a day about two hours each practice. They (practices) are not spread out too much, so sometimes people will sleep in the lounge, wanting to stay close and not have to walk all the way home and come back.

He said he'd come out and take batting practice, but I called him and told him, 'Why don't you just stay home,' ... It will probably benefit him more to just not show up at the ballpark. He'll come back here tomorrow and maybe be a breath of fresh air.
