In girls, a freshman can be a star. In boys, they need to be a junior or senior to be a champion runner.

This is the first time the boys have won a meet by more than 100 points. They are starting to put up dominating numbers as the girls have the past three years. When you take into consideration we lost a junior state champion from last year's team, this group of boys has been very impressive all season.

When the Taylor girls won it, it was great because it was a senior and a freshman winning. Madison's a junior and Natalie's a sophomore, so they have next season. They played very well. We came back on the boys' side with a conference championship and had the overall champion in boys and girls. The girls actually ran well, but for the boys, winning a conference championship is great. The kids really wanted it. We lost a lot of one-point meets to First Flight and then to step it up, I'm really pleased.

The teams that showed up were very-high quality. Jasper (won senior boys) is picked to win the state meet in their classification. Southside Batesville came down and beat our junior girls by one point; it was a close race.

There is a connection between eighth- and ninth-grade girls being able to access drugs and alcohol from junior and senior boys that are interested in something other than drugs and alcohol.

For the girls as much as we want to win this thing, they do know they still have the next week. Both groups have a great opportunity. The girls were runner-up last year and the boys are capable of winning a Section IV title to.
