en We had kids get placed really early in the (recruiting) process this year, which is odd for a Las Vegas team. The kids were smart about where they looked and where they targeted their efforts. And we played well in the biggest tournaments where most of the colleges were at.

en It's really important (recruiting the Oregon high school players). We take pride in what those kids can do. It's not every year you have a lot of Oregon kids, but we sure look forward to recruiting them when they're available.

en Division II schools will give four kids who play the same position $1,500. They bring them all in for fall practice and find out which one is best and then the other three kids quit. Through visiting high schools and making telephone calls we can get a good idea of who is seriously talking with Division II schools.

en I took a lot of criticism for not recruiting Manitoba kids. But those kids, in most cases, were going the route that was the best fit for them, and that was to play junior ball.

en I was in the household of about seven of those kids, in their homes recruiting them, four years ago. I know how good those kids are, and I know they're just not doing what they're capable of doing. You just hope they don't figure it out here.

en In Vermont you have to be assertive. Recruiting is about perception and kids here aren't recruited as much as they would be other places, even southern New England. The kids here have to go above and beyond.

en We need to celebrate the bravery that we saw in those kids (in California).
