en Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? / A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

en He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

en He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.

en For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off: / That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.

en When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

en And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: / For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

en Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel, / The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD, (save us not this day,) / That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it; / And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel? / For the LORD hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.

en And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.

en Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: / Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: / Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners: / The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous: / The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
