Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; / Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: / Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; / Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.

But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: / The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: / Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; / Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: / For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Then said the high priest, Are these things so? / And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, / And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? / And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest? / Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, / Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; / Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: / Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: / But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; / From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: / And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Wherefore for the iniquity of those who are Jews did We disallow to them the good things which had been made lawful for them and for their hindering many (people) from Allah's way.
