en The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

en Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? / Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? / Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? / Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

en Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? / Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

en Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? / Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

en But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me? / Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

en Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? / The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

en Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself: / I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews: / Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.

en While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

en This is not to be denied, not forgotten. But what we are focusing on are the good things, the contributions Jews have made. We want to give young Jews a sense of pride in what our people have accomplished.

en And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews? / And they cried out again, Crucify him.

en And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? / Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

en But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? / For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

en Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

en And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them; / Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them; / But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows. Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them; / Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them; / But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

en And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
