I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare: / Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

In my book, The Fable of Christ, I present proof Jesus did not exist as a historic figure. He must now refute this by showing proof of Christ's existence.

For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, / In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, / To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: / But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

My single greatest accomplishment is, I mean this quite sincerely ... it is representing hundreds, thousands, of heretofore nameless, faceless, voiceless people ... The letters I enjoy most are those who write and say, 'For the first time, I feel there is somebody talking for me.' If I've done anything, I have tried to represent them.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; / Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: / For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; / Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: / Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; / To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? / But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ? / Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
