Ty, hustru, hur vet du om du skall rädda din man? Eller du, make, hur vet du om du skall rädda din hustru? Men såsom Gud har fördelat åt var och en, såsom Herren har kallat var och en, så må han vandra. Och så bjuder jag i alla församlingar.

For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? / But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

När du drar ut i krig mot dina fiender och HERREN din Gud har gett dem i din hand och du har tagit dem till fånga, / och du ser bland de fångna en vacker kvinna och får begär till henne så att du vill ha henne till hustru; / då skall du föra henne hem till ditt hus, och hon skall raka av sitt hår och klippa sina naglar; / och hon skall lägga av kläderna i sin fångenskap och skall stanna i ditt hus och sörja sin fader och sin moder en hel månad; och efter det skall du gå in till henne och vara hennes man, och hon skall vara din hustru.

When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive, / And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife; / Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; / And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.

When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege: / Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.

Och du ska hålla högtiden för veckorna till HERREN, din Gud, med en gåva av vad din hand frivilligt ger, som du ska ge HERREN, din Gud, efter den välsignelse som HERREN, din Gud, har skänkt dig. And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: / And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: / Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: / And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, / And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

Frukten av ditt land och allt ditt arbete skall ätas upp av en nation som du inte känner, och du skall bara förtryckas och krossas för alltid. / Så att du skall bli galen av det du ser med dina ögon.

The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway: / So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; / And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: / Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

Och när du låter honom gå fri från dig, så ska du inte låta honom gå därifrån tomhänt: / Du ska förse honom rikligt ur din hjord, ur din tröskplats och ur din vinpress; av det varav HERREN, din Gud, har välsignat dig, ska du ge honom.

And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty: / Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.

Ty du skall icke begå äktenskapsbrott, du skall icke slå ihjäl, du skall icke stjäla, du skall icke vittna falskt, du skall icke begära. Och om det finnes något annat bud, så innesluts det i detta: Du skall älska din nästa som dig själv.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Så skall du göra med hans åsna; och så skall du göra med hans kläder; och med allt som din broder har förlorat och du har funnit, så skall du göra; du får inte vända dig bort.

In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself.

Skynda dig och gå upp till min fader och säg till honom: Så säger din son Josef: Gud har gjort mig till herre över hela Egypten. Kom ner till mig, dröj inte! / Och du skall bo i Gosenland och vara nära mig, du och dina barn och dina barns barn, och dina flockar och dina herdar och allt vad du har. / Där skall jag försörja dig, ty det är ännu fem års hungersnöd kvar; så att icke du och ditt hus och allt vad du har må komma i fattigdom.

Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not: / And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children's children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast: / And there will I nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty.

And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it: / And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: / But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
