Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; / He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; / That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: / Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

Let us not always say / `Spite of this flesh today / I strove, made head, gained ground upon the whole!' / As the bird wings and sings,/ Let us cry `All good things / Are ours, nor soul helps flesh more, now, than flesh helps soul.'

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: / (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) / Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; / And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; / That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
